In this case the "Mercy is for the weak *BBT*" group is really where people need to look. As mentioned, it is a private group so you will need to be added. Someone started a thread there a little while ago. I'd encourage people to add their stories to the thread with any details they might have.

This is clearly a situation where someone intended to burn as many as possible and didn't think he would face any consequences other than a banned account on BA. Once the savages in that group start looking into this, things will get a bit uncomfortable for him.

I checked out a knife trading forum this guy is also scamming people on. It lists some other aliases this guy has used. Didn't want to post personal info here but I'll sent it to you.

I find it unlikely someone would use thier own name and address to commit this much fraud. Seems likely someone is using thier name and address (and account) to scam people. Maybe a teenage neighbor or son?

 

I am not sure what is more disturbing, this guy scamming so many people or the fact that a Knife trading forum actually exists.
it seems this guy has screwed over too many people though and I would imagine someone will track him down and bring him to justice.

 

I believe he already has the information. Someone posted the link yesterday, but it got removed. I only know because I replied to it and then got notified my post was removed for containing personal information. I assume this was because I replied to the post with the link since I didn't post any information, nor do I know this guy. They did post the entire knife forum link though.

 

@F2brewers I'm curious... Was this member previously a legit trader or was his supposed trading history under the old system just an elaborate sham?

 

A number of his past trade partners no longer have active accounts on the site, but I know one or two of them personally through BA interactions. I've sent some BMs and will report back what I hear.

 

Also, the name given, city & state all match someone with the same DOB as that shown on his BA profile. Same person or identity theft???

 

Is a forum about high end and collectible cutlery any more disturbing than a forum about drinking/trading partially fermented sugar water? The knife community is as large and tight knit as the beer community

 

He had certainly been active on the forums. He was on the BIFs that he said he was on. Certainly led to the credibility that I perceived him to have. In retrospect its weird that he wasn't on for so long. Interesting thought that someone could have hacked an account. Who knows. Looks like he had one purpose though and succeeded.

 

How much did the DBH retail for? I think the ba DL variants were $60/btl in 2016. IF the DBH were $20/btl (which seems low, if anything) the trade for $100 of hops would have been $4$ (possibly even less). For anyone other than an RTP that seems extremely unrealistic.

That old adage, if it seems to good to be true it is, should always, always, be heeded. I'm NOT victim blaming. Going forward I just hope that those reading here can better protect themselves.

 

His initial trade post was looking for beers from Hill Farmstead. I agreed to Flora BB, Elaborative 5 and mixed 4 of VT hops before expanding. I thought that sounded fair on both sides. The guy did seem genuine saying he had more of an old school approach. He asked me later if I would prefer a Huna snifter or a FFF teku as an extra. Definitely seemed knowledgable with beer. Had it been a new account with no feedback I would have been much more weary. Live and learn I guess.

 

DBH was part of El Cat membership which is 150 for 5 bottles plus a glass and some on-site benefits. El Cat members were allowed to purchase an extra for 55 dollars pre-tax

 

Is it possible to have multiple memberships and get even more bottles that way? Also, does anyone know someone high up at CCB? If this guy actually had these in hand, then it means he's an El Cat member. Maybe they could ban him for the shenanigans he pulled on people perhaps?
