Bad trader : Gatorcatcher

I just want to make sure that I am understanding this correctly..

He admitted that the bottle had been tampered with and stated that you should be happy to have even received that?

 

If everything you said is accurate, this is some of the douchiest behavior I have seen in a bad trader thread.

 

So its ok to substitute bourbon instead of beers if it gets lost?

 

Sounds like they agreed to it. I mean, if a box gets lost (hopefully it really did) and two folks work something else out, I think that's fine. Sounds like he didn't want a nice bourbon bottle that has been refilled with something else though, which is understandable.

 

To me at that point the trade is done, return the beers or find other beers as replacements. This is after all beeradvocate, how often is other items traded with beer?

 

I doubt it's very often. I've never done it, but I've seen folks trade bourbon-for-beer on a local board.

 

Just want to throw in that the OP is an excellent trader. He and I did a deal a while back and unfortunately one of the bottles he sent to me was damaged. He went WAY above and beyond to make up for what was lost. I really hope this gets taken care of for his sake.

Based on the description and behavior displayed in the OP, I'd be willing to bet he never even shipped the Rare. Did he give you a tracking number?

 

Also OP, did you ship him anything?

 

Hate seeing traders I've traded with in the past on these threads. Traded with gatorcatcher right around Christmas for a bottle of rare and some other local beers. Everything went perfectly. Hope chimes in to explain himself. This is unacceptable behavior.

 

Not quite to the level of the re-waxed KBBS thread, but yeah, this is pretty terrible.

Did the box show in transit at any point before it became "lost"?

 

WTF. We haven't seen tampered caps since that douche sending the Toppling Goliath shit

 

Any updates on this? He has several recent positive feedbacks. Can't believe someone would do something this crappy and deceptive.
