    Hi All,

So I've never had to start one of these threads before, but unfortunately, after scheduling and confirming and IP trade in Boston (mind you, I'm from NYC) with a fellow BA, I've had to resort to this. At the moment, I'm just looking for feedback on how IP trades are rectified as I typically deal with shipped trades and potential loss of beer. Anyway, on to the facts:

We confirmed the trade a week ago and last spoke this Wednesday. I drove up to RI last night and then to Boston (trillium) today - the agreed upon spot for the transaction.. I've sent 3 messages within the past 24 hours. He has logged on since, but has declined to respond. Thoughts?

    Thanks for your time.

***Mod note- until the bad trader is named this thread will remain in the trading help forum***

Did you use the trading system? Have you told the other trader that you will be making this thread? Any reason why you don't want to name the other trader?

That sucks, but at least you didn't lose any beer or shipping costs. Were you making the trip anyways? If the trading system was used you have the ability to make others aware of the situation and they will have consequences for wasting your time and effort setting up the trade. If not, not sure what you can do.

    Hi there,

Yes, I did use the trading system. He does not yet know this thread was created, but after waiting out the weekend, I will be notifying him today. And I haven't named him yet because I really try to give people the benefit of the doubt. I've actually found myself on the other end l, so I understand that things come up.

Yeah, thankfully no beer was lost. And yes, I was making the trip to RI anyways. I was going to Boston on Friday to specifically meet him, but I prob would have made a trip to Trillium at some point this weekend regardless of whether I had an IP trade lined up or not. I guess it's just the principle of it.

Yeah, definitely shady on their part. I've had good luck with IP trades so far. Knock on wood, because I'm going to try and set some up for next weekend!

I don't see why you would hesitate to out him. You had a date and place to meet, you drove , you brought your beer, he's active and you reached out numerous times, but not responding. Out him and cancel the trade, log it on the trade forum with negative comments so he can't do it again to someone else.

I agree that he should be named & tagged. IF he has a reasonable excuse the vast majority of the community will understand & be supportive. Beer communities & culture embrace the importance of family & friends. We're uber tolerant of genuine emergencies.

Yes, but not to being active on site and certainly not responding to a planned trade. Doesn't seem like an emergency to me, or extenuating circumstances.

Ok, so after waiting the weekend and attempting to contact him many times, it is appears tagging him is prudent at this point. @Griff57 is the person in question. Again, as I've mentioned here and to him in my BMs that I'd really just like an explanation. And, of course, the best resolution at this point would be to complete the trade via shipping.

I would go ahead & leave neutral feedback right away, so that others who might do an IP trade with this person at least have a heads up.

Looking at his feedback, it's stellar. Very curious as to why he flaked, or if there is another side to the story.

I think this is a record for length of time without a bad trader thread, more than a month!

OP - Did you agree to a specific time and place for the trade? Did you get his cell phone number?

We did. Noon at Trillium in Canton. He was heading to Tree House on Wednesday afternoon. That is the last I heard from him (though the trade was set up and confirmed the week prior). I purchased the beer he requested from Other Half on 8/13. I sent him my cell on Thursday so he could text me once he arrived at Trillium on Friday. After not hearing back from him Thursday, I messaged him twice on Friday morning letting him know I was en route and then that I was there. I messaged him on Saturday as well just in case he got tied up on Friday and wanted to make it right by meeting Saturday. Finally, I messaged him last night to let him know I was heading back to NYC and that I started this thread.

That sucks. Unless he has a great excuse, that is some really poor behavior. Hopefully you at least loaded up with Trillium stuff.

Hah, yes, I grabbed a few 4 packs of Galaxy Cutting Tiles. As I mentioned before, I was likely going to go to Trillium either way. So it wasn't a complete waste of my time. When all is said and done, the only real pain is having had bought beer that I myself wasn't going to drink with the intention of doing a simple IP swap.

Looks like the person in question hasn't logged in for a few days, so it really could be something beyond their control. I hope this gets worked out soon, but there needed to be some sort of communication regardless.

You wouldn't just say to your mother that you were going to meet her for dinner and stand her up, and not call or text, and not respond to call or text. Would you, @Griff57 ?

I considere this. But he logged after I messaged him Thursday. And then he logged back on after I messaged him on Friday morning. So I really can't chalk it up to that excuse.

As far as I'm concerned he deserves *negative* feedback....pretty straight forward. Made a deal, blew you off...seems pretty disrespectful in my book. Couldn't take (2) seconds to communicate, say sorry, yada yada yada

NOTE: he has (3) open trades & (1) pending.

Bet you get his attention real quick when you leave him *negative* feedback, which he deserves!
