Hold on to the cans for the purposes of what? Trading with him or for freshness to drink or trade ?

For trade , ASAP, as the clock is ticking and it takes time to lineup trade and ship. Or just drink them yourself.

Hey if my buddy didn't want me to check in my beers at his funeral he wouldn't have allowed people to drink at the thing in the firs... oh it wasn't Byo? It was just supposed to be a sober event? Totally my bad.

At this point, there is not a single *excuse*, truth or not, that should change the feedback from anything but *negative*.

Trade system is there for exactly these types of situations and should be used accordingly.

Wow. Ok...just going to post my message that I sent to Dan on here.....Not that I need to post all the details about my personal life on a beer forum, but I do want to clear the air....

    "Dan,

I am so sorry man. Has been a very busy and tough past few days, and this is the first time I have been on BA since last week. Did not mean to blow you off, but found out last week (Thursday) that my dad has Alzheimer's, and that has been pretty tough on him and my mom. On top of that, I have been offered a new job, so things have been a bit crazy at current place. Also have 3 kids, with one being a 2 year old who all keep me very busy, ha.

Anyway, that stuff happened last week with my Dad, and threw off the end of the week. And life in general, has just made me kind of totally forget about meeting you. Again, did not mean to blow you off at all. I would be glad to send you a box to make it up to you. Don't even worry about sending anything back. Just let me know your address and I can take care of it.

I haven't even looked at the thread yet. I will take a look now. But my feedback, and repeat traders speak for themselves. Would never intentionally blow someone off or screw someone over. Again, I will definitely make it up to you. I apologize again.

    Chris"

Hope this clears anything up, for the most part. To answer a few of the questions I seen in here....

-Yes, I was still drinking throughout The past few days, and still checking in. I drink thru good times, and bad, as I'm sure most of us do. (Alter Ego was from a few weeks ago. Never made it to Treehouse. Had it been from last week, it would've been in blue can. Not a blue label.)

-I can honestly say I don't remember coming on the site last week. Could've been open in my browser on the phone. Don't know....certainly never read any messages. Feel like had I come on, I certainly would've seen the message icon, and clicked on it.

-Yes, I received similar beers that came in the mail thru a Facebook trade earlier in the week. No, I did not blow off Dan, because I got these. Have a couple traders I deal with all the time from Virginia, who I wanted to make sure that I got enough to give to them, as one of the beers was a Veil collaboration. I know this looks bad, but not what happened.

-As I stated in message to Dan, I will absolutely send him a box this week, to make up for the six cans he had purchased specifically for me, and I ask nothing in return. Can honestly chalk this up to me fucking up and totally forgetting. Not intentional what so ever.....Want to make it right for all involved.

Chris has indeed responded to me via BM. I'd really appreciate if we could lock this thread down at this point. Thanks everyone for your help and guidance. And thanks to Chris for getting around to responding. No matter what the circumstances, it's tough saying "hey, I messed up. My bad".

Onwards we go through this thing called life.

Well, once again the red tag of shame produces a result. That tag sure helps the inconsiderate and indisposed folks to suddenly become apologetic and available. Glad to hear you think this is all settled.

If you think the red tag means that much to me your way off. I know beer=life for lots of you on here. But it is so far down the list of my priorities it's not even funny. I responded to Dan before even noticing the tag. And again, I admit I messed up, and will take care of it. Not because of a tag on a beer website. Because I messed up and sending him the beer he should've gotten is the right thing to do to make up for it. End of story.

We know, that's why you are here responding. Good for you finally remembering that you made a deal with someone. Hope before you make any other deals it rises higher on your list of priorities

Yet you continued to drink and had the time and gumption to post on untappd! I am sure most of us don't like to sound like unsympathetic assholes when people appear in these threads with life situations, but these threads over the years have produced every excuse and circumstance in the book and hard to know what is true and not true.

Also, OP says he texted you multiple times, why didn't you respond to him? The device you used to checkin beers also works well with texts.

Sorry if you have some family health issues, but this whole thing sounds fishy and there are a lot of excuses in your apology.

Honestly, I think this is one of those cases where the guy (Griff57) deserves a bit of latitude. He came in to clear the air as soon as he logged in and saw what was going on. He came in apologetic, humble and willing to make things right.

It is not ideal and the negative feedback is justified. I just think he seems credible with his explanation.

This is my opinion, ignore it if you want.

I have no problem with his explanation and I believe that sometimes things happen and that people make mistakes or forget obligations.

What I did not like is this statement:
I respect my Blue tag and I would hate to have a red tag. That is the point of the beer trading community on this website. It may not be the top of my priority list (as it shouldn't be) but that doesn't mean it is not important. I respect this community and I respect the people I set up deals with.

Agreed. His excuse is he forgot, but the way it looks is he ignored. Hope he makes it right like he promises.

There were never any texts. Only messages on BA. I'm not making excuses. I'm just telling you all what happened man. I fucked up and I'll make it right. Not much else I can do.

Agree, and I should have worded it differently. Of course the red tag is not ideal, and it does bother me. I was responding to the fact, that one of the posters implied that I was only trying to make things right because of the red tag. Which is not the case.

We won't lock this until things are wrapped up completely and you're happy with what he sends you.

Until then, this thread remains open in case other things happen or something changes.

Firts of all it's "you're", not "your". Second, if it was "so far down the list of your priorities", then you wouldn't be checking them in on Untappd. No need to be even a bigger jerk than you already are.
