No shame in getting in over your head. The shame is in how you treat folks when it happens. Glad to see you here owning this, and now do the right thing and you are going a long way to gaining forgiveness and an appreciation of the fun, cost, and consequences of your new hobby. I once went through a period when I was offered so many great beers I said yes a lot more than my wallet was able to agree to. I learned a good lesson and hopefully you now have as well.

Yes I've had to ship out plenty trades before in one go and it got pretty pricy so I know what you mean, but honestly it wasn't the money that did me in, it was the time. I literally had so much come up in the last week and I had put off as well as couldn't deliver on my trade. So I definitely learned something and I won't let it happen again.

This is, indeed, refreshing. Good on you for just being totally honest with no BS here @jd_bamd2k! A bad trader thread where no one ends up on my DNT list?! Well done.

Was this before or after you cut off communication, "lost your phone", "forgot about the trade", continued to come onto BA, and ignore his messages before he outed you?

I know we've got a love fest going here and maybe I need more coffee, but I'm still not impressed.

And...this is why some people are so reluctant to respond in these threads, even if they're working to make things right. :slight_frown:

Whether or not *you* are impressed isn't the key matter here.

@jd_bamd2k came here, took full responsibility and is trying to make things right. That is what matters.

So long as @TheKlevin gets his box, this thread will have served its purpose.

We'll close it as we normally do and leave it up for reference.

    Exactly.

At a certain point, piling on is no longer constructive.

It's pretty clear, we're at that point.

Just my two cents on this, but I've often felt it would be a good idea to include a "don't get in over your head" suggestion in the "pro-tips" section. One of the reasons I generally don't trade (other than as a favor for friends), is because of the time and hassle. Like you it sounds, money isn't the concern; it's finding the time to put together a box of beer in a safe shipping container, and then finding the time to schlep it on down to the nearby UPS or FEDEX store.

The folks who conduct multiple trades simultaneously mystify me. Unless you're a trust fund baby sitting at home clipping coupons all day, where do they find the time to put together so many trades?

FWIW: If you're going to be trading regularly, a little bit of preparation ahead of time (e.g. ordering in a stack of pulp wine shippers, a good packing tape dispenser, and a roll of bubble wrap) can significantly cut down the time and effort it takes to get a box safely packed and out the door. It'll cost a few bucks, but trading beer probably isn't the best hobby if you're pinching pennies. :-)

I use FedEx at home pick up. If I had to take every box I shipped to the FedEx store, I'd trade about 10% as much as I actually do.

LOL! I have all those things (I belong to several wine clubs, and so always have plenty of shipping boxes available). It still takes time putting the box together, tearing off all the old shipping label stuff, securely taping up the box, etc. I don't have a fedex or UPS account, so that means I have to stand in line, explain to the clerk what's in my box, and then wait for him to measure and weigh the box (and generate a label). it's a rare trip to the FedEx store that can be accomplished in under half an hour, and I don't always have a free half hour during the work week to tromp on down to the store. Plus, I have really, really bad ADHD/ADD.

Did I mention that I don't trade very much?
