Thank you to Oldp0rt for maintaining the Bad Traders list and adding kaips1. Also thanks to the members of the South forum who contacted me about the thread I posted there. Very interesting information I received. It sounds like he is indeed having a hard time of late, albeit driven by his own actions. It also sounds like the spiral began after he flaked on us. I looked at kaips1 profile when he joined. He was the only member I did not recognize as an active member of the HB forum. He had quite a few completed trades and is still followed by some active members of the Trading forum. He Had a link to his beer blog, and who sets out to steal homebrews? It looked legitimate to me and we are a pretty laid back bunch in the HB forum. True enough is was just some homebrew accompanied by the commercial beer. I tried 2 blind and picked starkebeer’s homebrew as the commercial example of Shakespeare Stout and could not tell which was which from telejunkie’s Heady topper clone. My Westmalle tripel was a bit too sweet but still a good tripel and Naugled’s Raging Bitch attempt had a different yeast profile, still well brewed and he nailed the yeast on a smaller beer he sent. Wacky Belgian yeast! So some really solid brews were sent to kaips1. I have not seen the facebook page but I have been looking through his twitter that is linked to the blog. Looks like at least 2 maybe 3 different people tweeting and based on the info from the South he goes by 2 different names in real life. I will let you draw your own conclusions.
