    @NVP0717

Trade agreed upon I send BVDL Very mad cow 2012 and Very mad cow 2015 for DBH, BCVS, Zhukhov and Cafe Americano. I sent him a trade request that is still pending.

Agreed to ship Monday October 19th, I got my package out and sent him tracking number and he replied late that night with "Sorry just got home from a 12 hrs shift will give you tracking information tomorrow if you don't mind I will pay extra but you will get this week". He hasn't gotten back to me since that Monday night and hasn't been active on beer advocate since the 22nd of October.

He did not include his email or phone number in his shipping address and he may have used a fake name. The name he gave me is different than what he has given a few of the people that he has traded with before.

The profile also says the person is a female and yet you say it was a he. That's a bit odd given that your concerned about a fake name.

Other feedback for trader in questions refers to a "he".

The person in question also gave a male name. I didn't notice the female profile until after I sent because I wasn't suspicious until I didn't hear back for a few days.

Names aren't really important until the person flakes

Yikes, that's a big bottle for the typical bad trader thread.

It seems lately that trading history alone isn't enough to trust. A lot of the recent threads in here are from guys with 10+ trades...however, most have very little for posts or interaction with the site.

If I trade going forward with someone I don't know they are either shipping first or better have 250+ posts with some kind of reputation within the community. Just sad.

EDIT: Quick glance at the last 8 bad trader threads and only 1 person had more then 10 posts to their credit. Most didn't rate a single beer or anything either. Just something to think about when trading blind with people.

I had a similar experience with this trader.

I sent him several bottles for a vanilla rye. Poor communication led me to calling him out. He responded that his wife had dropped the vanilla rye and he did not have anymore. He offered me a 2013 prop or original bourbon county vanilla as a replacement. I went on his word that it was an accident and felt those bottles a bit extreme to send if it indeed was an accident. I told him to ship what he felt was fair and I got a box with 2 different barrel aged panthers and other solid bottles that in my mind more than made up for the situation. There was not enough room to explain on the trader feedback so I left a positive response. Sorry this happened, I feel I could have warned people better but hind sight is 20/20.

No offense man and good on you for admitting this in your post, but this is the feedback you left:

<<Great trader. Would trade with confidence going forward!>>

People lately are being burned left and right because previous traders not leaving appropriate feedback. Based on your post and feedback, your misuse of the feedback system is pretty egregious.

Starting a list of All-Star excuses. "My wife dropped the Vanilla Rye" is definitely #1.

Wonder how many of us would be looking for a new wife after this happened .

Well like I said hindsite is 20/20. The dude was super appolagetic and while I didnt get a VR he sent me way more than that in terms of value. There isnt enough room to explain the whole story and at the time any negative comments seemed inappropriate.

The guy does international travel for work and I doesnt seem to have beer trading as a priority. Im pretty confident once he sees this he will make it right. Sorry it has turned into this but I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt.

"My secretary dropped off my personal beer package" has to be on the Top 10,

@joberlie @RayOhioFelton Did you guys get the same name and address?

@RayOhioFelton you said that you 'called him out'. Do you mean that you formally called him out, ie started a bad trader thread? IF not, then how did you call him out? Do you know if the name you were given is the same name the OP has?

I sent him a message basically saying "what the hell I see you have been on BA and read my.message a day ago but have not responded".

He was gull of excuses. He gave several options including mailing back my beer and paying for my shipping costs.
I honestly do not remember. I do not keep very good records of trades. Is there a way to see the history on FedEx?

If you have a FedEx acct I believe there is a record of what you have shipped & what you've received. I'm almost certain you can pull up individual shipments with the shipping details, ie name, address, contact info etc.

I'm sorry this happened to you, I really am, but why in God's name would you send a bottle like BVDL before the trade request was even accepted? Not to mention sending somebody good beer when you have no way to contact them outside of BA? Like Ronnie Reagan, "trust but verify"

Anyway, I hope this gets resolved ASAP

couple things for all (not just the OP):

never ship before a trade request is accepted.

never trade without an email, phone number or (preferably) both. if your partner won't provide that info, don't make the trade.

secondly...OP please BM me with details about the name situation. this may be useful in the future.

I have traded with @NVP0717, so I have a name and number if it would be useful. I also seem to remember that he had bad feedback a while ago, but now it seems to have disappeared or been changed.

Sounds like @joberlie and @CSO might want to compare info and see if it matches up. This one reeks, unfortunately.
