I originally started talking to @Liverocks in February (14th) about an IP trade when he was coming to Chicago. When he came into town, he got a few upland bottles, a 2012 pentagram, two brothers fathom, some half acre beers, and a bunch of other good things. We worked out some of the trade before hand, but he was interested in some bottle and didn't have as much beer with him as he though. I said I would happily give him the extra bottle now and he was returning to town a few weeks later, so we could just do another IP trade. He was supposed to come back with some Para batch 3, second fiddle, heady, sip of sunshine, and some other things.

I texted him the week (March 13th) that he was supposed to come back into town. He said his trip got pushed back a week because his father-in-law was dealing with colon cancer. I said not a big deal and to take his time with that. He sent me a picture of some trillium beers he got and promised to send some my way.

I shot him another message (april 6th) saying that if he didn't know when he would be back in town he could just ship to me. I saw, via trade feedback, that he was shipping to other people. He said he was doing another work trip, to london this time, and he would ship as soon as he got back. He stated that he picked up some shelf loons to throw in my box.

I dont here from him for awhile, so I send him another message (may 6th). He responds two days later saying he'll send out my box when he gets home from flying on the 22nd. I told him sounds good and wait some more. May 22nd comes and goes and I hear nothing. I sent him a message on BA on June 19th asking whats up and just checking. I sent him a text message too right around the same time trying to see what was going on. I haven't gotten a response to either.

So while half of our trade was finished the other half has been left open for months. I unfortunately left him feedback after completing the initial IP trade thinking he would make good on his word. He had plenty of trade feedback, all positive, so I took him for his word. Hopefully, he will see this and finally get my box out months later.

Sadly, too much time has passed and I can't edit the feedback. He also had an incident on one of his latest trades of not having the beer he promised a guy, and had to send back his beer. Either way, I wanted to let everyone know what had happened to potential avoid this happening to them.

He's not accepted the trading rules so I'm not sure he will be able to see he's been tagged here. Man, being jerked around for 3+ months is crazy to me, hopefully he comes through, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Yeah its nuts that this thing has gone on for so long. He had plenty of good trade rep and just seemed to have a bunch of unfortunate things happen to him so I let it go. I'm hoping someone that knows him sees this and reaches out to him.

@Liverocks also hasn't logged in since May 30th.

I linked this thread to his profile so if/when he logs in, he won't be able to miss it.

If he chooses not to verify, we'll have to pursue some other options on his account access.

@Todd if he does verify and his trade stats cone back, we may want to consider ways to modify the feedback for this trade.

This is a common scenario with this guy. Did an IP trade with him, as did some of my friends, and we all had similar experiences. Changes trades, forgets something, will get you later. When you think that its just you, you maybe make an excuse. After I found out friends had the same issues with him, I will not trade with him. That was not an isolated incident.

Did you flame him on feedback??

No. Ended up with good beer, but was just annoyed by the changing. Just felt a bit off. Then found out similar stories with 2 different people, so at that point I put it together.

Yeah that's why people need to leave proper feedback and not be "bought off" with good extras/subs

OP potentially getting screwed out of beer is @Liverocks fault, but if you and your friends left appropriate feedback, you might have saved the OP from getting screwed.

I checked out his feedback first and he had a ton of good feedback so I had no problem helping him out. Plus he had an old account with a lot of posting history. In the end its just beer, and hopefully someone sees this and avoids this situation or something similar in the future.

There is a marked difference between not feeling this guy was on the up and up and there being a problem. As the OP said, he empathized because he though the guy had bad luck. I also thought at the time that it was just a bit of disorganization on his part. Found out about the trades with my friends 4-5 months after my trade, and the story was similar for all of us, as well as the OP. As soon as I saw this posting, I jumped right in.

But that's exactly the point. You don't need to flame the guy on the feedback, but leaving something appropriate will give future traders a heads up to be wary.

So often in these bad trader threads you get people chiming in with "oh yeah the guy was super slow with me and ended up sending me something different than we agreed, but he did send some amazing extras to make up for it so I didn't say anything" And then you read the feedback and it's like "super generous trader - amazing extras". When it should have been "slow to ship and subbed out one of the bottles we agreed, but part-compensated with a great extra"

This pretty much sums it up in a nutshell. I wish more people would just be honest with their feedback. I wonder how many people who leave this kind of feedback actually do or would trade again with that trader. I'm willing to bet the percentage is very low or zero at that. It eventually has a domino effect and hurts other traders who would *should* have been warned.

Yeah, but there were no extras involved or mentioned for this. I traded for good beer and was happy with the beer that I got. I was the least impacted of all of the scenarios that I heard. I just got a bad vibe. Much later was when the pieces came together. It was also an IP trade, so I guess most people just assumed scenarios here. The format for me warning/advising is this right now.

Yeah, while I thought Chris was a decent guy, he is kinda flaky and all the stories you guys talk about are consistent with my experience. A friend of mine did a few IP trades with him and when he slowed down on the trading, he referred him to me. My friend also mentioned the same thing, he would forget some beers or would switch something up. I set up a loose trade with him based around a few bottles so I wasn't super upset when he didn't bring a couple he said he would. He last texted me on May 27th looking to setup something else again but after a few hours, he just stopped texting back.

Yeah he's very friendly and nice too. Luckily I'm not terribly upset about loosing anything, its just beer. I'm not sure if he got in over his head or he's just a dick. Either way the things he pulled aren't ok, and it seems to be a pattern.

You're not getting the point people are trying to make to you.

If YOUR experience with him was bad,, your feedback should have reflected that. What you learned months down the road from friends who also traded with him has nothing to do with your feedback, YOUR feedback is based on YOUR trade.

And you claim you had a poor experience so your feedback should have reflected that.

    Wrong, see bold above.

Yeah, @GeorgeCarroll could've left neutral feedback, but he was happy enough. Probably should've noted that bottles were swapped/forgotten last minute with any type of feedback.
But he's not on trial here. He's getting more grief than @Liverocks
