Ill apologize now for the length of the post!

Ok so I made an IP trade with a guy a few days ago and this thing was a mess. We started talking about 4 weeks ago and decided on the trade after about 3 days. Now we live about 1.5 hours from each other so luckily I was in his area a week after deciding on the trade and offered to meet him close to his house in which I got no response. I sent him a few messages for about a week and nothing. Finally he answered and gave an excuse as to why he did not answer in which I replied with another meet up now 2 weeks after initial contact. Again another week of no responses and a missed meet up. Through all of this I sent him my cell phone number 3 times telling him to text me if it was easier and nothing. Finally I offered to ship to him and he sent his contact info but told me to wait because we might be able to meet. So now for a week I was texting him trying to find a day to meet in which he kept asking if I could meet during the week in which I told him yes but it would be late in the evening due to my work and travel to him. He would not respond to any of these responses. So finally this past thursday I said can we meet tonight and he replied I am coming home from NY and wont be home until around 830 and cant meet this weekend. So at this point i'm so fed up I tell him Ill drive all the way to his house in which he quickly replied with a meeting location instead. So about 20 minutes into my 1.25 hour commute I get a text saying I have all the beer except the abraxis (we agreed on him giving me abraxis, parabola and mexican cake for Tired hands, other half and sole IPAs). At this point I was irritated and just sucked it up and kept driving hoping he would have something better to replace it. So when I finally meet him at the location he brings a big box to my car with a bunch of beer and he starts going over what is in the box. The parabola was a 2014 not this years but I did not specify so thats on me. There was no mexican cake or abraxis and he started pulling out these beers I had never even heard of. One of them he stated is possibly infected. After researching the beers none were even close to the ratings of the abraxis or the mexican cake. So now the IPAs I had for him were almost a month old and I just wasted a 1.25 hour drive so I just took it all. I asked him to accept the trade that he still has yet to accept multiple times and he replied he will and still has not. It seems as though he is avoiding accepting knowing I plan to give bad feedback. What should I do about this? The same trader has had other comments saying his communication is bad so I am not the only one yet he still has a 100% trader score.

I think there's a lesson to be learned here.

Please understand that I'm not blaming you - this guy sounds like a tool. However, when a trade is that hard to set up, bail. Beer trading is supposed to be fun, not like going to the dentist. Personally, if I get crappy vibes off someone like this, I'll politely message them & call of the trade; & tell them why, if they ask. If someone's communication is terrible while trying to set up a trade, I can only imagine it's going to get worse when they're trying to get a box off, especially if previous feedback follows this pattern.

Sounds like this guy shouldn't be trading, but since (it sounds like) you accepted his beer in the trade, you're likely SOL. All you can do is bug him to accept the trade, but chances seem slim at best, especially if he happens across this thread & realizes you're planning on giving him bad feedback. Good luck.

OP, sorry to hear about your experience. The only advice I can give (and I'm sure it's not anything you don't know now) is to wait until a trade is accepted in BA before shipping/meeting, etc. An accepted trade is your only recourse for when things go bad i.e, giving bad feedback. And even then it's not foolproof but it's the best we have at this time. Good luck.

I gotta tell ya this might be the funniest unintentional post ever. The part where the douche took out random beer from his trunk had me rolling! And you took it!

You definetly needed to bail and that asshole isn't gonna accept your trade. Make sure to take care of that next time.

    @zam216

Was this trade set up through BA? If so then this guy needs to be outed and given negative feedback, otherwise you are partially to blame the next time he dicks somebody over

Evilcatfish is completely right. You really have to put this guy's name out there. People need to know what happened. It also might be the only way you get him to accept the trade request.

He finally accepted after I texted him 3 times asking for him to accept and leave feedback. The trade had been pending for 3 weeks so he obviously was avoiding it. His BA name is -NESTO-

Seems like there were many bad decisions made here.. But ultimately, that guy sounds like a real shithead.

Also, you can't be that interested in "Abraxas" if you don't know how to spell it.

I'm at work, (so my apologies for the short response) but if the trader doesn't make this right, I have an Abraxas & MC I can send your way...along with a few other items to fill a box.

    Cheers,
    Dave

If you read through the feedback left for @-NESTO- it seems like he has had communication/delay issues with a number of people who have left positive feedback. My bet is he'll take steps now to right the ship on this one as well. He's got a lot of trade history, probably gets himself over extended from time to time when life gets in the way of beer trading. @-NESTO- this time you've been called to the carpet on your casual approach to beer trading, please make this a priority here and clean up your mess.

But Abraxas is your favorite!!! I do hope this works out so you don't have to do this Dave.

Sadly that was the nature of typing this up on my phone and auto correct must have taken the spelling over on that one. :astonished:

Thanks for the offer man. If your serious I might just take you up on that. Interested in any tired hands?

Trader has reached out to me via text to try to clear this up. He stated he was very busy and had trouble communicating with me hence the lack of responses. He said he was rushing out to meet me for the trade and mistakenly grabbed the wrong bottle instead of the Mexican cake and the abraxas was a complete mistake and he did try to replace the value. He plans to send out the mexican cake to make up for the mistake.

Sucks he just couldn't man up and tell this side himself….:flushed:
Also why wouldn't he just send the Abraxas as well? Unless you were ok with no name beers and a possibly infected one that you didn't agree on?

Ha, you gotta love when people's communication improves and they want to make things "right" once they are publicly outed

And the word "right" is relative here…… So far.

    1. No one is "too busy" to return messages. Seems like he communicated just fine once his name came out.

    2. Waitwaitwaitwait...he grabbed the wrong bottles and then tried "to replace the value"? Does he mean he went shopping on his way to find some shelf beers in hopes that you would just take whatever he decided to give you (which you kinda did)?

@-NESTO- In looking at your feedback it seems like you have had several issues in the past and now another one. Maybe if you can't get people the beer you agreed to, on time, without communication issues...maybe beer trading is not for you.

    BA-

I realize that I am being called to the front of the congregation......

I appreciate all of the interest and insight on how things should of played out and the menagerie of criticism accompanied. Admittedly, my communication with @zam216 was not were it should of been. However, I do believe that the communication was not negligent as he has made it seem. No one, with exception of the trader was privy to our conversations to know otherwise. In the same hand, as with everyone's life my summer has been extremely busy, I've been traveling for my secular career, and spending time with my family as needed ahead of my seasonal work this winter, which will take me away from them. Albeit, this is not the way to conduct one's business on such a public stage, but it did indeed happen to my dismay.

I sincerely acknowledge my failed attempts to meet up and the spotty communication. But to be labeled as a "Bad Trader" among other expletives is simply not true. I do wish @zam216 had contacted me first before this thread was created to speak about his frustration and afforded me the chance to correct this matter. All things being equal, I can go back and dissect all the conversations we had, the fact that he took over $120+ beer which we reviewed in person and didn't say a word about the forgotten bottles (didn't seem the slightest phased when mentioning the possibly infected beer), but I gave him full disclosure nonetheless. (I believe that shows some honest intentions) I lived 30 mins from the spot we met at, I would of gladly turned around and retrieved the beer that I left on the counter. With more than a few positive feedback comments, from more than 3 dozen BA's on my trade list, I believe the pendulum swings the other way towards the positive nature of things. I've apologized to him, and feel that he did not intent or knew the full extent to which a post like this would go, but here we are.

All in all, @zam216 and I have reached a reconciliation point; and would consider this matter closed.

    Drink Well,

Thanks for stopping by to offer some kind of explanation.

That said, it looks like he tried to discuss things with you more than once and you could not be bothered to return messages/texts until this thread.

    Some bad trader cliffnotes:

    1. No one cares about your career or family commitments or anything else really. If you are too busy...don't get involved with trading.
    2. As soon as a thread like this goes public you do not get to dictate who is or is not involved. There are no police in beer trading. When a bad trader crawls out of the muck and decides to screw someone or go silent on someone or take their time fulfilling their end of a deal, other traders have every right to know and try to compel you to live up to what you agreed to.
    3. You "forgot" bottles and then gave him other bottles in an IP trade? Explain how the hell this happens.
    4. Your feedback looks like someone who needed to be called out some time ago. "Took awhile to get the shipment in". "Some shipping delays". "Kept me hanging for over two weeks". I would not go bragging about your feedback.
    5. Good traders don't have bad trader threads started about them. Good traders don't try to pass off beers that weren't agreed to. Good traders don't have crappy feedback. Good traders don't have communication issues. Good traders don't make excuses. You are a bad trader.

You make a fair point that he took the beers you had with you. I don't understand that. Still, it doesn't make you any less shitty for trying to pass the wrong beers off in the first place.
