Bad Trader/Scam: BSBSME

    I just wanted to give the community a heads up to watch out for the trader BSBSME.

    He and I set up a trade over the July 4th weekend and we both were going to ship out on Monday. I shipped his package and messaged him the tracking number like usual. He checked the message, but didn't respond. I didn't think anything of it, as some traders have taken a few days to send me a tracking number. On Wednesday, there still was no response, so I messaged him just to make sure everything was alright and if he had sent the package. Once again, he checked the conversation but didn't message me back.

    On Thursday, I noticed he had his first beer trade feedback from someone named Beerismygod, who had never done a trade before, and joined around the same date as BSBSME. The feedback said that there was no tracking number given, but the package arrived safely. This along with the similar join date made me even more suspicious. I tried to message Beerismygod, but he has not been online since he left the feedback.

    I knew my package would be there by Friday, so I sent him one last message saying that I needed some feedback from him or I'd call FedEx and cancel the shipment. Again, he checked it and didn't message me back. With no response, I called and had the package returned.

    I should of made better judgement when I saw his join date and lack of trade history, but with my good experiences here so far, I ended up trusting him. Luckily, with the package taking 5 days to ship, I was able to cancel it in time to save my beers. While the majority of new members have been great in my experience, just make sure you aren't careless like me and have them send their beers first. Lesson learned.

    Did you send a trade request on this site? If not then I would have never shipped anything.

    And I've only completed 2 trades (excluding IP) and even I know that I would make a new, unestablished trader send first. Not trying to be an ass, and I respect your Samuel Jackson avatar, it just seems like every time I click the link for this subforum, I see a new bad trader thread.

    With that being said, I'm glad you got your box back and at the end of the day you outed a potential scammer. For that I do say, thank you.

    Seems like there's either a lot of BAs getting bamboozled or a lot of dirtbags joining and trying to trade with people.

    Yep, a trade request was accepted by him before I shipped. And I know it was a mistake for not having him ship first. Just have to learn from it and be more cautious from now on.

    It tells you when the person you're having a private conversation with reads their message. All you have to do is look to the right of your response box and it'll be there.

    Thank you not only for alerting us to @BSBSME but also potentially to @Beerismygod ... has he had anything to say for himself? And lastly, thank you for telling me that a FedEx shipment can be cancelled, I don't know that I would even have considered that idea in your position.

    Nope, Beerismygod hasn't been online since he left trade feedback for BSBSME. That was last Wednesday. And FedEx should always be able to return the package to the sender as long as it's not on the truck for delivery. They don't refund your shipping costs, but it's better than losing your beers!

    Well yeah, I mean you weren't going to get back that $15 anyway, but at least the box came back.

    Which beers were in the trade if you don't mind me asking.? If you don't feel like answering, no problem.

    I think I am going to start just trading with people that I have traded with previously; or at least put more of an emphasis on that while trying to read into trade feedback history.

    The trade in question was a Gose Gone Wild and a Bomb! for a Filmishmish. So, it's not like it was some big trade involving anything rare. It is crazy, but hopefully this makes people more cautious when trading.

    Just a heads up about @BSBSME I too had a open trade with him around the same time frame. He messaged me he shipped on July 6 but forgot he receipt with tracking in car and would message me back with it. I have sent him numerous messages since which he has read but not responded. It is now July 18 and obviously nothing has arrived, I too have canceled my shipment to him.

    Sounds like a serial thief has been thwarted with no lost beer & the community has been alerted.

    If worthless creeps like @BSBSME are going to exist, this is the best possible outcome.

    Kudos for the quick thinking!
