Bad Trader: smitty5245 Please Help

    I shipped a case of beer to this guy and it was delivered two weeks ago. He had 100% positive feedback over 8 reviews (I used the system). He never accepted my trade request, but being relatively new, I sent. He has repeatedly delayed shipping my beer. He finally provided a tracking # last Thursday for a "2-day shipper via USPS" The package still has not arrived, and tracking # says it has not been dropped off. I spent an hour on hold with USPS, and they told me the package was never received. I've sent 4 messages since yesterday with no response, although he has been on the website multiple times. Now I'm out 12 quality beers. Someone please put @smitty5245 on blast.

    You didn't properly use the system if you shipped before he accepted the trade request. Lesson learned. I hope he comes through as necessary.

    That sucks man..I hope you get your beer..But just another case of people needing to use the system right....So @smitty5245 Can you explain your side of the story?

    Regardless of if the system was used right, the op still got screwed here and that is not cool. I encourage the op to continue attempts to make contact with @smitty5245 and perhaps reach out to some of his previous trade partners to see if there is some insight to be shared. Hope this works out for you!

    I finally heard from him. He said that he's having issues getting a couple of the beers he offered for trade. He said he is now sending 2 shipments, one tomorrow and one monday (after he said he had shipped all of it last Thursday). I reached out to one of the people who he formerly traded with, and I got a similar story. Apparently this is a pattern, but he makes up for it with "generous extras." I just hope I get my beer.

    I sent - Surly Darkness, 2x NG Serendipity, NG Belgian Red, NG Raspberry Tart, 3Floyds Blackheart IPA, Jester King Funk Metal, Toppling Goliath Nugget IPA, Alpha King, Gumballhead, Boulevard Pop-up IPA, and Oskar Blues Ten Fidy

    Awesome that he tells you he sent all you beer last week when he doesn't even have all your beer yet... even better that he agreed to trade you beer that he didn't even have... sounds like a swell guy...

    And by not using it, IF YOU HAPPEN to get screwed, he will not be on the bad trader LIST...

    The List is there to help EVERYONE people...USE the system..

    Yea guys, even with people I have traded with before I still wait for the trade accepted thing, please just use the freaking system, they created it for this reason so then if you get screwed you can leave negative feedback which makes it much easier to track for other people then doing a search on the forums. Also don't leave this guy a good review like the other people have, point out in the review that he shipped late and not just "great extras" like other people have done.

    Hind sight is 20/20... I've learned my lesson with not waiting for the trade to be accepted. I won't be able to leave feedback on this trade, so this thread will have to suffice. I will update when/if the beer arrives.

    damn, OP that IS an expensive box. Hope your guy comes through. This is a much more legit bad trader warning than the slew of backing out of trades before anything is shipped posts recently. This info is some good insight into the trading practices of this guy.

    Generally, I agree. But after reading a couple of these threads and seeing the called-out trader following through, I had to try one. After being ignored for days, I heard back 2 hours after posting this. Hopefully this thread will have a happy conclusion soon.

    no don't get me wrong, I love happy endings (sic), I just 1) can't stand lazy/bad traders, and 2) scenarios that can be avoided by using the dang feedback system
