So I am currently running a BIF and this user missed his shipping deadline. After several attempts to contact him, I finally decided to do some digging on him...on his profile, he has 4 Active Trades going. I managed to contact three of the four BAs and they confirmed that he has stiffed them on boxes, going back to July. He fed one guy a story about losing his job and not being able to send after he received his box, but still went on to set up other unfulfilled trades and joined my BIF after said job loss. He is still an active member of this site as his last signin was Oct 29th. Avoid this scumbag at all costs. Unfortunately, since I ran a BIF and not a trade, I can give him a bad rating...not that it matters much anymore given that he has already struck before the new rating system went into place. Didn't there use to be Bad Traders list?
It blows my mind sometimes that people have given their "legitimate" address.... guessing it's theirs, since they had beer shipped to said address, then, they stiff people? This is a small country (he lives in Maine). First off, I would never do what this douche has done... in fact, I'm usually the guy that's bringing in beer to work, sharing bottles with complete strangers, expecting nothing in return, etc. Second, if I was that kind of douche, I'd be a little afraid someone could make a call to a friend of a friend that knows "a guy that handles things like this", and get my kneecaps busted open with some tire irons.
Can you please edit your post? It's implications like that that get threads like these deleted. I'm not disagreeing with you, but every time a bad trader thread gets deleted for a dumb reason there's a greater chance of someone getting scammed again
I would... but it looks like I can't edit my post now. Sorry about that. I don't come down here that often, and didn't realize a comment like mine would jeopardize the thread. My apologies. Again, I'm not advocating any type of action... just saying it's incredible that people stiff others. That's all.
Yes, but it's no longer being used. We imported the old list into the new beer trading feedback system, which should be used for all trades now. This also eliminates the need for threads like these. You can read about it here: http://beeradvocate.com/community/forums/announcements.49/
While I appreciate the new efforts on the trading feedback system, this still doesn't solve the issue that this guy stiffed several BAs between the time he could have been added to the old spreadsheet and the time this new system was put into place. As far it looks right now, he has zero completed trades, which could leave someone else vulnerable to getting screwed by this guy. This just happens to be one of those special circumstances of this guy getting in and free beer during that 'downtime'.
Done. I added a quick summary in the notes; less the name calling. Stats will eventually update automatically. http://beeradvocate.com/user/trades?ba=themunjoy Closing this one down now.
