I agreed to "gopickitupformebro" 1 case each of Cherry Adam from the Wood and Adam from the Wood for a BA with the expectation that I would be reimbursed.

I purchased the cases on Friday afternoon and left him know that I had. We were going to arrange a time to meet on Saturday so he could pay me the $440 dollars.

4 text messages that I sent him saturday afternoon/evening were not received because "his phone died"

I received a BM from him on Sunday morning apologizing and saying he had already gone back to California.

    Thoughts?

Was that it? "I went back to California, sorry."? I assume there had to be pretty good communication before if you were willing to shell out $440 for this guy.

I bet lots of people here would send you a label and $ for those beers. Probably some thank you boxes also.

Agreed. I'd love to get a bottle of each and I'd happily send you a label. But yeah if some guy cost you $440 and then bailed. That's total BS.

Dick move indeed but at the same time you have quite the stash of beer on your hands

I am sure there are some other local folk around you who would be happy to take a six pack off of you and heck if you are willing to ship myself and many others would love to grab some more of these bad boys. I ended up with an extra case of BA Blackout this year and although it was a bit of a kick in the wallet but I ended up just drinking a lot of it and enjoying it over the months.

Yeah, seriously post in here if you're willing to distribute it. I'd send you a label and some thank you beers for a mixed four pack.

Unless he was a known friend why would you shell out over $400 for beer on a guy you don't know? Your not at fault just trusting, he's an ass, but he would have needed to pay pal me the cash first.

That stinks. I'd also be willing to pay for some and a label along with some thank you beers to ease the pain. BM me.

That really sucks man, always a fear of mine when I do IP swaps for a lot of beer. I'd do a label and paypal, or trade some VT brew too to take some off your hands too!

I'd go ahead and call that person out, their apparent laziness or sketchiness should be on the list for all to know.

...oh yeah, for sure call them out. $440 is an insane amount of money for beer, and bad traders have been called out for much less.

Put me down on that list of people to reimburse you  I don't know if it was as much as a dick move as it was a dumbass move. Seriously, who would pass up an opportunity like that?

I find it totally a dick move...Maybe he just does not have $440 sitting around, just saying...I do find it awesome that OP can get his money back by the awesome BA's here..And this guy should be outted so he does not screw someone else over..Would atleast like an explanation on this as "my phone died" is total BS when you can go to a store and buy a charger quick

Apparently my Internet sarcasm didn't shine through

Yes it was a dick move but I promise you OP won't have a hard time getting rid of them. I can make that promise because if he does he can send me the bill and I'll send a box with return shipping label as Im sure about 1,000 other people here have already volunteered to do.

In the interest of full disclosure, here is the BM he sent Sunday morning.

"My phone died yesterday while I was out and about. I didn't get a chance to charge it until I was back at the hotel after midnight. Then I left Portland this morning to head back to LA. I'm sorry. I botched this plan.
I would still love those beers, but now there's the complication of sending them to me, or holding onto them for me, or whatever. I understand if you just don't want to deal with it, and honestly I hadn't expected to have to deal with that aspect and cost either, so I'd be open to it if you wanted to keep them or you know someone who would buy them, or whatever. But I obviously also understand if you weren't planning on making this $400 beer purchase, and now all of a sudden you've bought it as a favor to me, and you just want the money back. So let me know if you'd like to figure out ultimately how to get them shipped in some kind of mule/purchase or trade, and I can send you the money at least to cover the cost of the beers themselves via PayPal.
I'm not really in any hurry to get the beers in my possession, per se, so the specifics of that are really the least of my concerns, right now. Just want to make sure we're on the same page about what our plan should be to move forward.
If it helps anything, I also have a buddy who lives in Portland who could take them off of your hands and deal with the whole process of finding a way to get the beers actually over to me.
Sorry again.... I'm sure we can figure something out. I really do appreciate your willingness to help, and I'm sorry we couldn't meet up yesterday to make the exchange (and to share in some of the beers I brought-- I ended up bringing several good ones back home with me, unopened [Veritas 013, Stille Nacht Reserva 2010, Grey Monday). Could've used a little helping hand...."

Also, the inbox explosion I have received is a very clear indication of the willingness of many good BAs to help resolve the situation (and purchase some delicious, delicous beer). Thank you all, please don't be offended if I am not able to respond to everyone.

Based on your last post I think the least he can do is set up his buddy to meet you and he should pay via Paypal (this should be done immediately).

Definitely sketchy on the cell phone thing. I don't believe for a second he didn't have ANY opportunity to charge his phone, not to mention he should have set up a time beforehand and if he did the onus is on HIM to contact you.

Reading it again, it feels almost like he didn't think it was a done deal.

Do the friend thing, he screwed this up so he's got to work on fixing it. Meet the friend at your convenience, and if he doesn't work with you out him.
