@adidaswp. Despite what I originally stated about leaving this thread up, in the end I feel this is your call to make. If you would prefer to have this thread deleted, please indicate as such in response to this post and I'll take care of it. Thanks!

Sorry, not sure what you mean by “same mistake twice”? I made the mistake in my original trade and that’s it. My second trade is still open...no mistake there.

You probably should have stopped at, "I'm incredibly sorry." As @John_M notes, this is not helping your case.

I think that I am not the only one who'd like to see a thread like this one remain. There's definitely something of value here.

Totally agree! I can see why OPs in cases like this get some remorse, but thread was created, people invested their time here to offer their opinion and to have it go poof and gone doesn't seem right. Both sides have presented their sides, anyone who reads this thread can make their own conclusions.

And I will say it again and trader in question hasnt responded, if they just would have honored the trade and took the "hit" for THEIR mistake and sent beer, this thread wouldn't exist.

FWIW, I recently completed a trade w/ a guy who claims that he wrote his post incorrectly...but he honored the trade as posted nonetheless. His post said he was ISO one of three beers, and he was offering a total of three beers in exchange. So a clear 3:1 (the post didn't explicitly say "3:1", but it was obvious from the text). I wrote to him and said I had one of his ISO and told him which 3 of his I was interested in. He wrote back and said he couldn't do 3:1, but could do 2:1 instead. I responded that I was confused, and that I had looked back at the original post and it was clear he was offering 3:1. He wrote back and basically said "crap, I meant to post 3:2, but that's not what I wrote." So we then set up an official trade request and closed the deal as he had posted it. I tossed in some nice extras...but the key point is that he honored the trade as he actually posted it, not as he meant to post it.

And to be honest, I think this is what most of us would have done in a similar situation. And frankly, it's what I think @WIBeerSnob should have done in this instance.

However, it now sounds as if the OP wants to put this behind him and delete his OP (and this thread). Generally, it's been the policy of @dmbforever and I that if this is what the OP wants, absent some particularly egregious circumstances (which I'm just not seeing in this case), we tend to always comply with those requests.

I guess maybe I've been confused in this thread when replying because some follow-ups have seemed like a different situation. Can one of you clarify this?............ I took it as if the trade was fully negotiated and discussed due to addresses being exchanged. To me, that meant you guys messaged a few times back and forth with the trade details and came to an agreement. Am I wrong here and this was perhaps something like "ISO: FO2 FT: Prop/Maple" on the trade boards and then the OP replied saying I can do this? Then WI replied back saying ok cool, here's my info, etc without realizing the error in their original offer on the forums?

I completely understand an error in a post and wanting to correct it. Maybe you get a reply and look and realize the error and then tell the person sorry, but I made a mistake. That seems fine since no negotiations or anything have went down. When I replied, my scenario and thinking was that a discussion had already went down and bottles were talked about so it seemed unlikely for a mistake in the post and then also while negotiating.

Not trying to be a dick, I really am honestly asking this. If OP simply replied to the post saying they can do it and then he referred to the mistake then that's fine, but having addresses I just figured it went further in talks.

These are good points. I’m fine with keeping it open. If I made a mistake like this I would have just honored the trade. Beer trading doesn’t have to be this hard.
    HERE'S THE FULL EXCHANGE.
    1. Hey. I have FOb2 if this is still open. LMK.

Well, this is embarrassing. I realized I put the wrong beer in the FT. I’m incredibly sorry. I put a bunch of trade requests out there and I got some mixed up.

I meant to put bourbon county vanilla... not prop.

Glad we didn’t approve any trades on BA or else this would have gotten messy. This is totally my mistake. I totally understand if you’re pissed, because I would be.

Sorry to back out before anything was approved... unless you’re interested in doing this with the vanilla and Maple?

      Sooo sorry about this.

Thanks for the clarification on this. Now I understand better and it does appear they made an error in the post and didn't realize it. The convo is pretty vague and seems like it's more based off of the post itself. I was going more off of my trades where I spell out everything when someone replies, or I reply to them. In the convo itself pretty early I normally try to say somewhere "ok, so we're at this and this from you and I have this and this from me". It is entirely possible from your post of the convo that they were talking based on the offer they thought was posted. Others have said the trade could have still been honored since it's fair, which would def be cool, but I have a better handle on it now at least.

LOL. Yeah. I will definitely be more specific now in my original DM to any post in the future to avoid this. The main annoyance for me was the fact he didn't realize it until three hours later so I already packed the box with some nice extras and also that he put up a post later with the same two bottles and added a reserve for a FOb2 & FOb3. Oh well. Lesson learned.

All this over beer. Kind of funny. Nobody died, nobody was stolen from, nobody lost money, nobody is out of any beer, nobody was harmed. Just waisted a little bit of someone’s time for something dumb I did (which I admitted to and apologized for).

If anyone feels the need to keep “@“ me, go right ahead and waste your time doing so. I’m done explaining myself. The OP forgave me and moved on... and that’s all I care about.

I've pretty much consistently indicated that I think we should all give you the benefit of the doubt, as I really do believe this was just an unfortunate, innocent mistake on your part. However, with posts like this, it's getting harder and harder to do that.

This latest post is almost identical (literally, word for word) to what I've read from numerous BT's in prior BT threads. I literally can't tell you how many times I've heard "It's just beer. Why is everyone making such a big deal out of all this?"

Another fairly typical feature in many previous BT threads, is that the BT comes on the thread and portrays himself as the victim, who has been portrayed so unfairly by the BA community. Typically, they point to their flawless trading history as further proof that they couldn't possibly have engaged in this sort of behavior, as they have a great trading history (with no previous instances of this sort of behavior).

Does any of this sound familiar to you?

Pro-tip: Copy the original trade post and paste it into your PM in a quote box so it's there but doesn't take up much space.
Also doesn't hurt to clearly name out bottles being swapped at least once before addresses are exchanged.

I mean to say it's "just beer" would mean you should have no problem sending what you agreed to trade for in the first place both in title and conversation. C'mon it's just beer.

I often put the trade post's subject line in the message subject line, and then use the quote feature to quote what they said in that post. Then before closing I just summarize. A couple of times misunderstandings actually did get cleared up by clearly listing what's being traded on both sides.

Hey @WIBeerSnob If you'll send @adidaswp the Prop and Maple, as previously discussed and he sends you the FoB2, I will send you an FOB3 for the Reserve, completing your trade as requested, and getting him the two bottles he wanted. While FO is my second favorite beer behind VR, I'd be happy to see the OP made fully whole here and you get the two bottles you wanted.
