Im not sure if this is considered a bad trader or not since I never officially send him a trade request:

6/29/20 - Said he was interested in my Mostra Tones and '20 Assassin for his '20 BAAT
7/1/20 - I followed up and said he was weighing another offer
Later on 7/1/20 - Agreed to trade and wanted to expand for some local stuff
7/3/20 - Told me "He received an offer he couldn't turn down"

Consider this pretty bogus since he had me running around town trying to chase down some local stuff he wanted, glad I never found it as I would be out that cash. I know technically its not considered a trade since I never sent a request but would like to warn fellow members of this behavior if its deemed appropriate.

OP, unfortunate, but not a bad trader. Likely someone not to trade with for others given these tactics of agreeing then taking a better offer and their word is shit. Real poor form to leave you hanging for a couple of days thinking you had a deal done then going with a better offer.

Not using the feedback system is essential if you want any recourse. Have to lock in that agreement, if possible as soon as possible. That said, no beer was exchanged and yes, it sucks you went out of your way to get them some specifically for the trade.

Add them to your personal Do Not Trade list and share it upon request since others would want to be aware of a user like this.

While the behaviour of the trader may have been kinda dick'ish, we are not dealing with a Bad Trader situation here for two reasons:

    1. No official trade request was sent.
    2. OP is not out of any beer or money.

Unfortunately, stuff like this happens all the time, it's just the reality of trading these days. At least he actually messaged you honestly instead of just ghosting or coming up with a bullshit excuse.

As suggested above, it really is best to add the trader to a Do Not Trade list and move on. If others are interested in the details, they can always send OP a private message.

    Locking this down.
