Is the new Green Bay brewery worth checking out? Does Badger State Brewing have a tap room? Any info is welcomed....

no tap room yet. from what i understand this new expansion they are doing will include a tap room.

they are only open 11 (or 12) to 5 mon-fri so it's tricky to get over there.. for me at least.

i did have their IPA, Wit and Brown on tap about a week or so ago.

    rough outline:
IPA - above average, not bitter, well balanced, would definitely drink regularly.
Brown - good and solid. nothing special.. typical brown. would not turn my nose up at it.
Wit - could use some work. not my favorite style.. that said this one just wasn't particularly good.

How? Beer styles? Hinterland and Titletown put out some decent stuff.

Grew up in GB and then moved to MPLS, so Its nice to have a true taproom when I come back to visit
...Badger State reminds me of places like Indeed, steel toe, surly, fulton, all true taprooms. The others are more like townhall, northbound, free house, of which id consider more BrewPubs

It's very impressive and the guys running it are good people. Very passionate and I think anyone who visits will be impressed. Hours are pretty limited but the taproom is open and ready as of this past weekend!

New breweries are always good news. I generally have a rule of waiting a full year before judging a new brewery too harshly, it takes several (10+) batches of each style to really get a recipe dialed in on new equipment, even longer if it's also a new/up-scaled recipe. I don't look for consistency at first, unless they really hit the nail on the head- then it's our job as consumers to tell them- hey, we love this, brew it again.

This is also why I am against new breweries jumping straight into distribution. It's much easier to perfect a beer in your own tasting room than it is to perfect it while meeting the demand of a distributor.

Also, District 14 Brewing in Bayview is up and running. Weekend hours only for now, but the fresh beer is flowing!
