Bait and switch

Just looking at the text on the $6.99 label it appears to be for the correct beer, so looks like a coding error (store’s fault). If it had been me I probably would have asked to speak to a manager and try to get the price as shown.

WTF is this lady talking about? She gave you multiple totally different excuses that’s when it’s time to see through the bs and ask for the manager.
Is it because a shopper moved the bottles? Is it because the numbers don’t match? Or is it because there are no more in the store anywhere? I would say “Just to confirm, you don’t have any of these in the store, right? Then if I walk out with them it’s not stealing because you didn’t have any.”

 

I've run into this sort of jumble before, doesn't surprise me that another shopper may have left the wrong bottle on a spot it didn't belong.

I've also worked retail -- can't tell you how many people will intentionally look for an out-of-date sale tag and demand the sale price. Nothing you can do. Customer is always right.

 

Well what does the tag actually say it was for? The pic is too blurry to tell...

 

Maybe only the 2023s are for those sale prices, not 2022. No idea if different SKUs at Mariano's.

 

Yeah, Mariano's discounted the 2023 stuff 50%, but not the 2022 stuff AFAIK.

I don't know sku's would have to go by the description. But my guess is that price is for 2023 Prop, and not 2022 Prop.

 

This checks out, those prices are exactly what they are at my Mariano’s. It’s wild that they have 2022 left, because those were closed out last year as well.

 

I'm sure the State Consumer Affairs division would love to hear from you.

On principle, sure. But if I can get 50% off BCBS by spending 3 minutes talking to a manager that’s what I’m gonna do. Can’t hurt to try.
