I just wanted to know if the 2016 Ballantine Burton ale is available in the NYC area. Any help would be appreciated.

It shows up at a few places on Beermenus. What neighborhood are you looking for?

Write to Pabst at [email protected]

A friend was looking for the new-ish (and not often mentioned) addition to the Pabst Ballantine line, Ballantine Brewers Gold Ale, and Pabst sent him a 4 pg. pdf of every retailer in the 4 states (NJ, PA, CT, DE) which got the beer within the past 90 days.

Total Wine carries the Brewers Gold , though I haven't picked any up yet.

As to the Burton Ale, I did get a few singles there but the sixes were sold out. The beer manager expects to get more soon. Otherwise I haven't seen it as abundantly as last year. Maybe the salesmen aren't pushing it this year and the only stores ordering it are the ones who made a point of it .

As to the op, it's in NYS, so maybe if you're friendly with a beer guy they can order you some.

I would guess Half Time and/or Portchester Beer Distributor would have it or could get it for you.

I was under the impression the Ballantine Burton Ale was a 1 time brew. Has Pabst decided to brew it again?

A couple of weeks ago I was at my 'local' Total Wine & More (Claymont, DE) and I had a 6-pack of the Brewers Gold in my hand that I intended to purchase. I then read the bottled on date and put that 6-pack back on the shelf.

    Cheers!

Thanks for the responses. I called Halftime. Waiting for a call back. I e-mailed Pabst.

I saw on untapped lots of pics of the 2016. Perhaps it's a more limited release this year?

I think the one I saw was 4 to 5 months old, and in the right mood I'd take a chance on it.

Yup, that was basically the timeframe for the 6-pack that I had in my hands. Needless to say but I was not in the "right mood" to purchase this beer.

Prior to holding Brewers Gold in my hands I had 2-3 other beers that I wanted to purchase in my hand that I had to put back on the shelf.

My consistent shopping experiences at Total Wine & More:
    • Very happy/satisfied with the wine shopping I do there.
    • My beer shopping experiences are very different from my wine shopping. :slight_frown:
    Cheers!

Just stick with the seasonal section , then. Or you could also get beers where age may be a virtue, like lambic, saison, etc.

Michael, I infrequently shop at Total Wine & More and I principally go to buy wine.

On my shopping list I have a half-dozen or more beers listed and if I buy one or two items from that list I consider that a success.

From my perspective the 'issue' wrt Total Wine & More is that they use the Wholesale Distributor staff to stock and maintain the beer stock (I have conversed with a number of the Wholesale Distributor staff over the years while shopping there). Here is the problem (as I see it): the Wholesale Distributor is going to 'unload' old stock at Total Wine & More since they are in full control here and none of the Total Wine & More employees are monitoring the situation. I buy most of my commercial beer in Pennsylvania since my local beer store guys actually inspect the beer coming into their stores and refuse to accept the old(er) product that would be coming in otherwise.

    Cheers!

It wasn't well reported but in several of the articles on the initial release of Ballantine Burton Ale (labeled 2015) last year, it was mentioned that it would be brewed annually:
