I found some Sea Monster for dirt cheap. "Enjoy by" date is 2/14/14. I couldn't resist at only a couple bucks a bottle and I'm hoping it was stored at least in a box. Anyway, I'm trying to figure out when it was brewed. Does anyone know approximately, based on the Enjoy By date?
According to their website under Date Stamp Guide, their beers are best enjoyed within 120 days from bottling. I guess you could just count back 120 days from 2/14/14. http://www.ballastpoint.com/date-stamp-guide/
"IPAs and hop forward beers" though. As this is an imperial stout, I'm not sure if the 120 day enjoy by date holds. Some breweries stamp enjoy by dates several years in the future on their imperial stouts.
High ABV hoppy Imperial Stout. You're fine! Just got maltier with time. What did you pay for it/them?
OP, that's the old BP dating system. The new system is referenced in the link above. 12 months for the Sea Monster from that time I believe.
