I have been holding onto a bottle of Baller Stout, and I am wondering if anyone has cracked one recently? I am thinking about drinking it over Christmas. Cheers!

Drank one last xmas eve, planning on doing the same this year. It can't really get worse can it?

I dunno about worse, but I got the bottle last year and was told to hold onto for awhile as it tasted almost exclusively like Darkness.

Never had one fresh, but I did get into a bottle last week. I felt the beer was fairly fantastic, especially with a little time in the snifter to open up and unwind (drinking half the bottle as opposed to a 3 ounce sample helps). Wouldn't say that every beer in the blend was discernible, but a super complex and very satisfying treat.

Split one with mcbeerbrew a few weeks ago. Crazy good right now!

Appreciate the feedback...sounds like it's time to crack this one over Christmas.

I was given this bottle by a very generous BA, and that was his opinion on it. He told me to hold onto it for at least a year before I opened it. It has been a little over a year now, so I wanted to get opinions on how it is drinking now.

    Will do good sir!

What did he say would happen in a year? Fake snakes would fly out when you open it?

Thought I explained this already, but he said it tasted predominantly like Darkness at the time and suggested holding onto it to see if the flavors would blend more.

I opened this beer recently and we all enjoyed it, even more so than 3 of it's counterparts, not Darkness though. Nice silky body too.

This is good thread because I have a year old bottle and was thinking of cracking before years end. It look so good sitting in my cellar makes me want to drink it up. I bet the blend is amazing and the flavors are coming out for years to come. As it is a big beer aging it for sure cant hurt but I personally have never tried it and can't wait any longer LOL

It has gotten much better. I was pleasantly surprised. "Fresh", I thought it was done-zo; dead. stuck on some syrupy low-carbonation plateau forever. As usual, I was wrong. Opened one 3 months ago and another 3 weeks ago. It's brightening up, and has a good character.

So would you suggest holding on to it for a while? I have lot of other good stuff to drink at the moment

Had one about a month ago and it was drinking nicely. I personally think this is a much better beer than Dark Lord and would think it would be even better without any Dark Lord.

I can see the beer holding up for a few years.

My guess is he is assuming that the hoppiness of Darkness would die down. Pure speculation on my part though

Then wouldnt it taste like aged darkness after a year, if in fact it did mostly taste like darkness when fresh (definitely not my experience)? Is it time to turn into Dark Lord now? 2013 it will taste like Black Albert im callin it.

It was explained, reply #3 in this thread...what don't you get about the reasoning? I've done some acid in my time, but I think you may have fried your brain.
