Baltimore Beer Week

All one needs to do is hit Max's Brewers Art and Alewife and you have your own beer week. But to answer the question: Yes!

 

Holy Cow there are a lot of events. I'm gonna have to wait for taplists. I feel like I will most likely be figuring out where I'm going the day of. There are some good fests, but still no idea what I'm going to do.

 

We are doing some awesome events at John Steven Limited in Fells Point throughout the week. Here is a list of all the events. We are doing a complete tap takeover of Baltimore brewed beers (all 20 lines). Hope to see some of you guys come out!

Maybe it's because I get soooo many great beers throughout the year in Baltimore, but BBW continues to be a bit of a letdown. My favorite beerweeks within a few hundred miles are Philly and Cleveland, Cleveland gets virtually every Ohio brewery to pair off and collab on one offs which are avail at numerous events, both cities offer collab one offs in bottles throughout the city and both tend to focus on beers not avail on a reg basis, both from local brewers and beers distributed to the area, at the beer bars and breweries in the city. All of these things BBW could improve on. Also you can find draft lists for the diff events sometimes weeks before the events. We're 5 days from BBW and it's tough to find many draft lists. That being said, you'll find me at the Maryland Brewers BigWheel Race Wed at Max's, The Real Ale Fest Sat at Pratt St. (always a winner) and the Stillwater takeover at Max's on Sun. WHAT TIME IS IT?! GAME TIME

 

Yeah, this will be my first Baltimore Beer Week and I'm excited for a few events, but then there are major events all held on the same day and you really have to just pick one it seems. Like right now, there are few specific beers that I know I want to try, and then most of those I know will be available are ones I can reasonably get elsewhere. This is almost too much. There are so many events and draft lists are non-existent. I realize I won't be interested in most of them, but still.

Mahaffey's looks to have some good events and is close to home for me. Their passport thing looks good. Also, the food next week will be phenomenal (looking forward to Mahaffey's game burgers and double digits night).

I still haven't had any Devil's Backbone or Starr Hill, so I need to look out for them.

 

I will most likely be at all of those events. Not sure if I will make it to the Real Ale Fest though. You can definitely find me at Max's most days next week.

 

Gillis, where are you seeing the American Beauty & Kvasir? The Elysian Pumpkin event will probably suck me in too. I'll bring some vintage MD beers to the Big Wheel race. See ya in the "Land of Beer".

 

Kvasir hopefully is going to be on tap at the Ancient Ales event at Max's (it wasn't listed in the e-mail you posted, but it comes out on the 15th and they better be able to get that since DFH is a big sponsor and is only over in DE). American Beauty is both at the Randall Hop event (they don't say it by name, but allude to it with the mention of granola as a brewing ingredient) and the Tri-State Tap Takeover, which takes place over from the 18th to the 20th.
