I apologize if this has been posted before but I couldn't find anything recent in the search function. I'm coming to Baltimore next week on business. No transport, staying by the convention center. Is there a good bottle shop anywhere nearby that I should hit? Really looking to find DuClaw Retribution if possible. Also, if anyone is looking for midwest brews, I'd be glad to meet up and trade IP there while I'm there 3/12-3/14.
Yeah, it's been some months now since your question came up, so I'm not surprised a forum search didn't produce anything. Have not been, but I've heard fairly good things about Urban Cellars up on N. Charles St. It's roughly a half mile away, and so walkable, just so long as you don't head over too late in the evening (which would be unwise). Otherwise, the closest really good place in town near you is the wine source, which would be roughly a 10 or 15 minute cab ride to get to. They almost certainly will have Retribution, though I'd call to be sure. Urban Cellars might have it as well, but definitely give them a call first before walking over. If neither place has it, or if you don't feel like making the cab ride over to Hampden (where the WS is located), then maybe consider taking the water taxi over to Max's (you could walk it as well, but it's a pretty good walk to Fells Point from the convention center). They'll certainly have the Retribution, and you can order it to go. It will be a bit more spendy buying it from Max's, but on the other hand, you can spend a pleasant evening there sampling through their huge bottle and tap selection, which is always a good time. Good luck.
Awesome. Thanks for the reply. I've heard about Max's... hopefully I'll have time to go there. I'm sure I'll be able to get over to Urban Cellars if it's that close. Great suggestion. Also, I've been to Baltimore a few times and am well aware of the late evening crowd in the area so I'll stick to afternoon travel for the walk for sure. Thanks!
