I'll be driving down from Hartford, CT with some cool NE beer not available in the area & will be staying in downtown baltimore... figured i'd put it out there if anyone would like to trade I'm bringing some Two Roads, Kent Falls, Grey Sail, Lawson's, Treehouse, and New England stuff... Also, if you "mid-atlantic's" have any recommendations besides the usual, id love some guidance... thx!
Is Double Duckpin a usual yet? If not, try that, I make my brother in law bring it up to LI whenever he comes (assuming it was recently canned) I think last batch was early December
I would love to get some New England beer! My family just visited me from CT and they didn't bring any beer- big disappointment. What kind of stuff are you looking to get? I'd recommend a visit to Union, as well as Max's Taphouse.
2nd on Max's...100+ taps, great staff, it's a dive bar imo, but I love that place. Food wise, Nick's Fish House, away from all the usual shit around the inner harbor, on the water, not a bad beer selection, not a great one, but the food is spot on.
Check out wine source in Hampden if you want the best selection of beers in the baltimore area. Fairly priced too.
+1 to Double Duckpin and +1 to Max's. Looks like Max's has DD on tap so you can kill 2 birds with one stone. (If you don't mind driving a bit I think it's worth checking out Union. I haven't been to their brewery yet but the area it is pretty cool and I've heard good things from friends who have stopped by the brewery.) I'd also recommend Heavy Seas Alehouse and Of Love And Regret for food and drinks as well.
Union Craft is easily accessible from Light Rail--Woodberry stop. About a 3 minute walk. Last week, Double Duckpin on draft and available in cans. Snow Pants is a pretty good oatmeal stout and Chessie is a smooth and dangerously drinkable barleywine. Was on in BA format as well. Fri hours 5-10, Sat noon to 5. Good guys to boot.
Make sure you try a Monument - Battle IPA - only available on draft. I think it is on par with Double Duckpin.
If you want something a little different check out The Brewer's Art in Mt. Vernon. Their beers overall aren't on the level of Union or Heavy Seas, but they do have some really good ones and it's a very unique place.
+1 to Brewer's Art. I will always have a special place in my heart for Resurrection and Zeke's Coffee Porter is a damn good coffee porter.
Besides Maxs, IMO, the two best beer bars in Baltimore are Mahaffey's and Hudson Street Stackhouse in Canton. They are a few blocks from each other and not far from downtown. I would love to trade for some New England beers. I have some NoDa Hop Drop N Roll, Hoppy Holidays, Fatheads Headhunter IPA, as well as others if interested.
Definitely check out Brewers Art. I've had good experiences there. Max's is a must. If you have the time, DC Brau makes some very solid beers as well.
Never heard of double duckpin, that's something to look out for awesome, haven't tried union either.... olar is on the list as I've been Jones ingredients to get down here for them... love this city, I'm down by Camden yards... if anyone wants to bottleshare or trade I'm here till Sunday... pm me
Since you're near Camden Yards check out Alewife and Pratt St Ale House, both are close to the stadium.
