Need some help, my wife is going to Baltimore for a business trip next week. She'll only be there 1 night. She is staying at the Marriot Waterfront. Any good bottle shops in the area? She won't bring too much back as we just made a trip to Vt last weekend and well there is alot of beer in the house. Any must haves?

The closest good bottle shop is Bo Brooks Lighthouse Liquors in Canton. If she has a car, she can head up to the Wine Source in Hampden, that's the best bottle shop in the city. DuClaw Sweet Baby Jesus, Retribution and Pumpkin Retribution. Burley Oak, Union Craft and Full Tilt are all great MD breweries that have cans/bottles on the shelves. Full Tilt brewed a Berger Cookie Chocolate Stout that comes out this Friday.

BM me if you want more detailed info, or to trade any extra VT beer.

Should I assume she's driving down from New Jersey to the Harbor East area (where the Marriott is)? If that's the case, a stop at State Line in Elkton, MD, just off of I-95, is the only bottle shop she would need to visit. They would have almost anything anyone else has and, probably, better pricing than downtown Baltimore. You can make your own six pack and, if you sign up on-line for their customer card, you get 10% off on singles.

BFF21231 is absolutely correct, but the bottle shop he mentions is not all that easy to get to, without a car (or unless your wife really likes to go for an inner city stroll). It's a bit more than 3 miles round trip, and it's through a fairly busy part of the city. If your wife is OK with that, then great, I agree that the liquor store is probably your best bet given where she's staying. If she's not quite that ambitious, then Bin 604 might be more up her alley. It's just a couple blocks away, and while the Bin specializes in overpriced wine, they also have a fair selection of overpriced beer a well. Another possibility is to just have her go over to Max's, which is a beer bar, but also has an off premise license. Max's has a beer selection that is easily comparable to what you'll find at the Wine Source (they should have all the DuClaw beers mentioned by BFF21231, and then some), and while their prices won't exactly be any bargain either, it's only about a half mile from your wife's hotel.

Of course if she's driving down on I-95 from Jersey, then just take sammy806's advice and have her shop at State Line. State Line is probably the best store in Maryland, and is arguably one of the best stores in the country. Good luck!

She's taking Amtrak down and she will be in the Harbor East area from what I can gather. Thanks for the input guys, I'll see what she's willing to do/get for us.

And I'm sorry to say there isn't any extra VT beer from this trip.

Slim picking in Harbor East, so I suggest skipping the beer and walking across the street to Little Italy and visit Vaccaro's Pastry shop for some pignoli cookies.

Just to chime in. Bo Brooks Lighthouse Liquors (just google it) is supposed to have a tremendous selection of beer to go. Have heard many of my beer friends talk about it. I here it's quite affordable too. Problem is I would not walk it, though you could I suppose. It would probably be a $3 cab ride tops.
