Me and my lady will be heading to Banff in August, aside from Banff Ave. Brew Co. which I know about from my multiple Jasper visits, what are the best liquor stores and bars to visit for decent beer?
I'm drawing a blank on Banff, lots of places to eat and drink no doubt but for craft beer standouts I can't think of one other then the brew pub already on your list. Canmore has The Grizzly Paw and Canmore Wine Merchants on Main Street, the Safeway in Canmore had a decent selection last time I was there.
The Sobey's in Canmore is good. As to Banff, I have kind of given up on the brewpub the beer and the food are mediocre and best and that might be a stretch, same with the Grizzly Paw in Canmore. We have been going to a pizza place that has Hop Head on tap http://www.bearstreettavern.ca. There is a Thai place that has a good beer selection just check Yelp and read the reviews.
When I was in the Liquor Depot on Wolf Street, their selection of beers for growler fills was pretty decent.
