I am in the Baltimore area around John Hopkins U for a night or two, and looking for a decent spot for a pint or two. The one big caveat is that they must be showing the NBA Finals tonight! Thanks for any recommendations. The Ale House Columbia we were at last night should be a decent fallback, too.
You aren't too far from a few decent options. I'm not including downtown bars (such as Max's), although those are certainly easy to get to, just further. The neighborhood Hampden is right around the corner (like 5 minute drive, could even walk) with tons of bars. Le Garage and De Kleine Duvel are great options there. Le Garage has High-Westified, Grapefruit Sculpin, and Double Duckpin on tap right now and some good bottle options. If you want Belgian, De Kleine Duvel has a huge selection on tap and in bottles. Birroteca is also close as is its sister restaurant the Nickel Taphouse. Been less impressed with their selections recently but both still have good lists. Enjoy!
It is Johns Hopkins. Note the "s." Also, I assume you mean the undergraduate campus (and not the medical school campus)? Anyway, cdiddy has some good suggestions, depending where exactly you are around the campus, The Dizz is a good casual spot with usually decent craft beer selection.
