I know there was an Amesbury thread kicking around, but I wanted to give these guys specifically some love. I've been there a few times now (it's less than a quarter mile from where my brother and his family live, so it's a frequent destination).

I've been really impressed with the pale ales, kitty kitty and smush, and I consider BareWolf the impetus for my recent surge in pale ale consumption. Their Scotch ale was out of this world good, too. They have a robust porter that I think is phenomenal. It seems like they're open to a ton of different styles and seem to be aiming for prolificacy as they've brewed a ton of different beers/styles already. My brother loved the sour and the double IPA last time we went.

The atmosphere is cool too. Pool table, music, bean bags, food, skee ball. It's a cool place to hang out and the beer is really good.

I agree, it's a cool place to hang out - I've been a few times. I thought the Porter was excellent too. But I'm not as sold on their Pale and hoppy beers as you are, unfortunately. I don't necessarily think they're bad but just kind of middle of the road - which is fine.

I prefer the beer from Silvaticus just around the corner - love their lagers and saisons. But definitely BareWolf is the choice if you want to spend an hour or two to chill.

They've had some of their stuff on draft at Brendan Behan in JP. I was told someone from the family who runs the brewery is a fan on the bar so thats why they have had multiple kegs. I've enjoyed what I've had.

I don’t mind Silvaticus. And typically I’d prefer their styles actually. They just seem a little one dimensional right now. Their black lager was probably the best I’ve had from them, but everything else just ends up blending together in my mind. I’ll certainly roll with their beers again. Maybe I need a bigger sample size.

Silvaticus was fun, but when we went there were flies EVERYWHERE. If they can cure that problem we'll be back.

I loved the vibe at silvaticus. Beers were real solid too. Nice to have those two breweries close in Amesbury.
