had tank slapper and many other Barley Browns at Baileys Tap room. pretty sure there isnt an IPA or Pale Ale they make that isnt good/great . would be interesting to try them all side by side to see the differences. they must make at least 20 different Pale Ales/IPAs.

really wish they would make that Grape IPA a few more times. that thing was delicious

Tank Slapper is still on tap at Roscoe's. I might go get a fill today.

That was my take as well. I thought Head Shake was oustanding, but still preferred Tank Slapper.

Course it's been several years since the last time I had HS.

Their webcam live taplist is pretty funny. Smart idea though.

Would love to get some, but won't be up till Saturday, and I'm assuming it will be long gone by then.

I enjoyed the Grape IPA as well. I was told at the brewery that they had been trying to enter a fruit beer festival for awhile without success, so they just added some grape extract into one of their IPAs to qualify...

Well here I am at roscoes sipping on some tank slapper. I thought I would do a formal review... Right in this very thread. I realize this is extremely obnoxious and narcissistic thinking you actually want to read this. Oh well.

Appearance: well this is a dark bar. But it looks nice - even though it's a pint glass and not a tulip. No matter though. I now ponder how I haven't had an IIPA out of a pint glass in a very long time. It's a little weird. The color is what I'm going to call "blood caramel." That could be due to the very fluorescent ceiling fan light above me or it could actually be that color. Probably something like Pantone 17-1463 (this may or may not be accurate). Lacing is above par (side note: we say above par as a good thing, when in golf below par is a good thing. Idioms confuse me.) I'd give the lacing a birdie.

Smell: it's fairly dank. On the range of rubber tire to fermented weed juice I give it a 8. It just smells like Columbus and simcoe sap. More so than hop venom, not quite notorious ( this is a comparison to pungency not actual smell). It lives in the family of enjoy by, apex, ginormous but a bit better. Super dark fruits, sweet caramelization. It's not a bright beer. This beer wants to draw you in and then swallow your soul.

Taste: this is why we're here, this is why you skipped the first two sections. This shit has a ton going on. Tree sap, lucky charms, garlic sun flower seeds, an ear of corn, rice-a-roni... Ok maybe not. But it does have classic dank IPA taste just magnified. Pine resin, caramelized peaches, candied raisins (?). I don't know it's effing crazy delicious though. There is some alcohol, as most beer. But the 10% get you right at the end of the beers journey from lips to stomach. Heat goes up as the temp goes up (pretty standard). It hits the same tongue spots as megafauna and enjoy by but way better than enjoy by. I think megafauna is actually a good comparison - but this is just a larger monster. There is a sizable bitterness just to remind you that this ain't no barley wine. Balance is like a Romanian gymnast.

    Mouthfeel: wet

Overall: this is what I'm talking about. Dark tropical fruits intermixed with pine bitterness. This is what I imagine 10% hop venom tastes like. This isn't juice. This is a beast of a beer (gender unspecific). Again solidifies barley browns as a master of style. I didn't think they had this type of beer in them as I'm used to brighter beers from them, but this thing competes hard.

Seek it out, ISO, beer4lyfe, other shit.

No worries, and you don't owe me anything. :-)

BTW. We just got resupplied with some more Even More Jesus (or more likely, Bier Stein simply put out their remaining supply), and I grabbed some for myself this time around. I can see why you wanted some now (really good stuff). If you want it, I can spare another bottle, as I cleaned BS out after cracking open a bottle a couple weekends back (same price as before, and I'll bring it to the brunch). Just let me know before I leave work today (probably around 4:30).

Ha, ha... it's a great beer, but two growlers of that bad boy would be more than I can handle.

BB must have really made a bunch of tank slapper this time around, as it looks like some even made it down to Eugene. I'm showing that 16 tons has a keg, which is a first!
