So I am a couple of months away from a big barley wine tasting that I want to do for my thirty fifth birthday. I am looking to open 35 unique BWs for the party and was hoping for some advice on what I am missing. Not exactly looking for the hard to find, but just some good example. Any suggestions would be great!

Here is what I have so far:
    King Henry
    Mother of All Storms
    Sucaba
    CW BBBW '11
    CW BBBW '12
    CW y2K '11
    NG Barley Wine
    Old Foghorn
    Bigfoot
    Church on a Hill
    Telegraph Rhino
    Uinta
    Horn Dog
    Green Flash
    Coronado BA
    Old Dipsea
    Moylans
    Old Jackalope
    Old Guardian
    Nogne Sunturnbrew
    Big Worse
    Nils

I can't remember everything I have in the fridge, I know I hate the 35, but not all are memorable and a few are wheat wines.

    What am I missing?

    Gratitude
    Blighs
    BA Naked Evil
    Arctic Devil
    BA HiFi
    Behemoth

And there are a lot more. Those are ones you may be able to get through trades and such. There are more that are very limited. I have some of the Cherry Wood Ya Honey and the Bourbon Berry Grove, Lawsons Seared Palate, and some of the Kuhnhenn BBBW. And then there are Wheatwines....

    Cheers!

Even though it's technically classified as an Old Ale, Thomas Hardy's is an essential I think

seriously, though, trade for Bligh's and Kuhnhenn BBBW, and add Uinta Anniversary's to the already mentioned Cockeyed Cooper.

Weyerbacher Insanity shouldn't be too hard to acquire.

Three Floyds Behemoth would also make a nice addition. You should be able to trade for it.

Alesmith Old Numbskull is available year-round. It would also make a nice addition.

How about some JW Lees? Should be pretty easy to find different barrel versions and vintages.

If you're willing to trade for a beer I would highly recommend getting Rock Art Vermonster. It's a fantastic beer that doesn't get much press but is available almost everywhere in Vermont so working out a trade should be relatively easy.

Edit: Smuttynose Barleywine would be another worth seeking out.

CCB/Swamphead Roosevelt & Mikkeller Big Worst would compliment some of the ones already on your list. Also think a variety of JW Lees Vintages & Barrel treatments would be a good addition.

HOTD Doggie Claws is excellent, and shouldn't be too hard to find.

Are you a Pack fan all the way in northern KY?

I recently stayed right across the street from Party Town up your way and will likely make another trip in the near future. BA beer tasting and/or trade??

If you were to manage a bottle of BA Naked Evil I'd try for a bottle of Sweet Evil, its non-BA counterpart released a couple weeks ago, as well. Stormwatcher's Winterfest for the same reason (MOAS). Additionally:

    Alaskan Barleywine
    Troegs Flying Mouflan
Brooklyn Monster Ale (try for one with a couple of years on it)
Heavy Seas Below Decks Bourbon or Cabernet Barrel Aged
    Bell's Third Coast Old Ale
    Rogue Old Crustacean

Yup. Graduated in '93. I was there for the last 2 years of Jimmy V.

Always nice to meet someone else from my alma mater. Definitely shoot me a beer-mail the next time you're in this area!

Why am I the 1st to ask how many people are going to be in attendance helping you drink all of these 35 beers? We did a barleywine tasting with 5 guys and we ended up opening I think at most 12 bottles?

    Cheers!
