Thanks! We got off pretty easy this time compared to 3 years ago. I'll be back at it soon I'm sure.

@Beersnake1 would you be willing to start this thread next year? Don't think I'll be opening anything that soon.

[IMG] Lolev Beer, “Demeter” Barleywine. I never heard of this brewery from Pittsburgh, but I’m glad that I decided to purchase some of their product!

Came across a 4 pack at my local distributor yesterday! I really like it. It’s definitely an American Barleywine. I’m going to be looking for more of their stuff!

The Fear That Never Was from Oakshire Brewing in Eugene, OR. English barleywine aged in bourbon barrels. Comes in at 13.9% ABV.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours very dark brown (almost black) with no head. Looks borderline still. The nose is wonderful. Big and boozy. Tons of toffee, figs, prunes, dates, and raisins. Big notes of bourbon. Brown sugar, bready malts, and a oloroso sherry note.

The taste is one the best tastes on a barleywine ever. Burnt toffee, tons of vanilla, oak, brown sugar, figs, prunes, and bread. Holy crap this is so smooth. The ABV is very hidden. This is so smooth and intense from the lack of carbonation. A bit of port comes through as it warms.

The mouthfeel is pretty thick and viscous, with a mildly sweet bourbon aftertaste. Slight burn on the way down. Overall, this is an absolute banger. I wish I had more.

This beer was brewed at Central Waters Brewing's facility in Milwaukee, WI. There is a lot going on with this beer. It smells like peach tea. It is blended very well. It is not too sweet, and not too bitter. It is quite smooth. I really like it.
