Barleywine Appreciation Thread (2024)

Lakefront Brewery Black Friday Barleywine 2019.

 

Double Barrel VSOR from Rev. I was fully expecting to dig this but damn is this amazing. Ryeway is such a unique beer. My favorite of the ‘regulars’ in the Deep Wood series and this iteration just steps up the alcohol and barrel heat. Very intense but also quite smooth. Cheers!!

 

I call this Revolution collab Jammy Straight Jacket.



Light raisin, a nice vinous jammy note, brown sugar, bright caramel, and a bit of brown liquor. Double barrel priced right.

 

I'm very curious how the Rev version turns out. It's a way higher ABV. People seem to like this one so I have high hopes

 

Hoping halftime gets some, I'd love to try it. Haven't seen details on the revolution version, what is the abv?

 

had a new Barley Wine - Soaked in Sin from River Roost. 13% ABV, Bourbon Barrel Aged.

LOL. I have had one bottle and have four more at home. I didn't even realize that it was a collab. Would love to try the Revolution version.

I'm drinking a 12oz can of Central Waters Milwaukee Reserve: Double Rye Barrel Honey Barleywine 16.5% ABV
I'm getting caramel, rye spice, honey. oak, vanilla, whiskey. maybe a hint of brown sugar.
It's boozey but not as boozey as I thought it was going to be.
Rather sweet but not overly sweet. Some people are stating it smells bad, but it smells good to me. You can smell the honey mixed in.

A limited release. It was there Black Friday beer. Taproom only. You were limited to 2 cans per person. It might be a one time only beer.
The cans were sold out on black Friday.

 

@DIM Remember Double Baked from Tree House? Did you have that?? People were saying it was their best barleywine ever. This just dropped today…

 

Double baked was amazing and this sounds awesome too. Intrigued by this as well

Sull sent me a Tree Of Life and i think it's one of the best Barleywines ever. They for sure make better BW than stouts IM(,useless,)O .
Christmas time is the only time I'll be nice to BWs.
