On the lighter side. Young (8 months aging). Not overly sweet or bitter. Warming. Very nice!

Drinking a Double or Nothing from Lawson’s and Otter Creek. Been sitting in the fridge for several years. Aged nicely!

Dang - just realized I posted earlier in this thread when I should have been posting in WBAYDN! Dang phone! Now, this IS a barleywine! Black Meridian from Cellarmaker!

Poured at fridge temp. Pours very dark - almost black. The nose is rich toffee, chocolate, figs, marmalade, brown sugar, bourbon, vanilla.

The taste is intense brown sugar, toffee, dates, malts, booze, oak, bread, rice pudding, raisins. Lovely. This definitely doesn't taste like a 15% ABV beer. Not too sweet, but definitely sweet. Great beer overall, with a medium mouthfeel.

I couldn't resist one of the 2024 Deal With the Devil boxes at 40% off. I got #3 because 2 of the bottles have Cognac barrels in the mix. This is triple oaked batch 15, no Cognac in this one, aged 26 months in bourbon, bourbon, and rye barrels.

There just isn't anything else like these out there. I'm not saying it's the best barleywine out there or worth the price. It is unique though, the intensity of the caramel and brown liquor are incredible. I love the sticky sweet body and brash lack of balance.

This is quite a contrast from the Tired Hands collabs I had recently that that spent 48 months in one barrel while this spent only 26 months total in the 3 barrels. Those were heavy and ponderous, oaky raisin/prune bombs. Great in their own right.

Here’s a traditional English Barleywine called ‘200 Units’, 11% ABV, from Brewski Brewing, a microbrewery in Helsingborg, Sweden. It’s good.,. happy to have a can make it to the south of France.

Wheat wine from Kiitos courtesy of @Beersnake thanks Tim!

This is a pretty one, I love lumpy heads. This has a really nice delicate sweetness, honey and dried apricots come to mind. Light brown sugar and toffee as well. The body is lightly creamy. Really liking this take on a style that is hit or miss for me. Thanks as always Tim!

Glad it was enjoyable, Dan! I thought this was a nice "light" beer compared to our regular BIG barleywines!

A wonderful American barleywine from East End! Bitter hops, oak, peach, apricot, and some dirty toffee. Lovely.

I'm sipping on a 16 oz can of:
Barrel Aged Blackberry Full Send 2024 from
    [IMG]

Look: Very murky dark brown body. Short tan head that leaves a little fine lacing. Carbonation keeps coming up from the depths while after the pour.
Smells better after it warms. A little blackberry, sweet malty, molasses, raisin.
Taste is plenty of blackberry. But after it warns up other flavors come thru. you then gets those flavors (molasses, raisin) towards the finish. Smooth, rather sweet. But there is some tart in the finish and after taste. The after tastes lasts like 20 minutes. ABV is well hidden in every way.
Mouth feel is smooth and slightly thick. Not boozy
    4.23/5 Overall

Crunkle Sam 2020 - Clown Shoes

This is a mild Am-Barleywine. Maybe due to age. The bitterness is well under control, still outdoes the sweetness and both are definitely high. Tone o& caramel and plumb pudding. Toasted rye and caraway build with warmth, and pine needles as it closes in on room temperature. Earthy hops, very pleasant finish. Light carbonation. Soft, plush texture, abv is DRAMATICALLY below expectations. Just right after a bitingly cold day with gusty wind and snow. Computer maintenance forced me outa the office early. Oh darn! HA!

EDIT *** Forgot to mention, no trace of the bourbon barrels. ***
