2006 Doggie Claws. Figs, tobacco, bitter hops, and some old leather books in a library.

    I'm drinking a can of Lakefront Brewers Reserve 2019 Barleywine @ 15.9%
    Canned on 24Jan2024
It's mellowed out some, it's smoother and easier drinking. The ABV is very well buried at room temp.

I liked it better when It was fresh. It was more robust and edgy.

You ever try that big bottle of Hoppin’ Frog barleywine I gave you in Sheboygan? It was a New Year’s Eve bottle. I think I’ll open one this holiday season

    Enjoying a 2018 Doggie Claws.

This is tasting great right now. Tons of honey soaked apricots, caramel with a bit of char to it, and some potpourri like citrus at the finish. A great cellar pull for sure, glad I have more tucked away!

A lovely barleywine from Põhjala Brewery in Estonia. Bourbon, brandy, maple, toffee, figs, raisins, lychee, honey dew, chocolate, and a nice nutty taste. Walnuts. Lovely beer.

not a cross-post from the New England thread - I'm drinking more of this excellent barleywine from The Brewery at Four Star Farms. 16 oz per post a must!

Uncasked, and single digit ABV, but this allows the marris otter to really shine. The toast and treacle notes and relatively restrained hopping make me think this is more of an English style barleywine, despite an ambiguous "American barleywine" on the can.

    Buy the 4pk!

Intrepid Orchid from 2022. A wonderful vanilla barleywine. Still tons of vanilla, but also all the right barleywine notes.

Playing catchup after a crazy being weekend. Side Project Cellar 10th Anniversary Barleywine. This was consumed over Friday / Saturday / Sunday. As always, second night is the best. Malty sweet and driven by extreme bourbon barrel-aging. Really good but not as good as the SP 10-Year Barleywine releases last autumn. In all fairness to this one, that 10-Year BW is one of the best (if not the best) SP beer I’ve ever had and the best BW I’ve ever had. Cheers!!

Wow, some great cellar pulls by some of this page's mainstays, you know who you are!
Another version of Bigfoot will be hitting shelves near me soon so i better get busy with the remaining 2024's. This stands up as a great 2nd brew of the day and compliments BA Ten Fidy nicely.
    Cheers!

Having another old doggie, 2012 this time purchased recently for $4 Hair of the Dog.

This is drinking nicely right now. Sweet caramel dominates with mellow apricot, honey, and faint figs in support. There is a little leafy bitterness at the end. Ample carbonation even after all this time. Yummy.

Actually having it at Cartel. It's a good one. Nice and malty, minimal hops. Gonna grab 2 bottles of Cartel's Enigma so I have something to post about in 2025.
