I know Barrage has been around for a few years now but with the recent Sand City collab Man Hands and having had Try and Try IPA last night, I feel like they've really stepped it up lately. Try and Try was really impressive. The look, smell and taste were all off-the-charts as far as I'm concerned.
Did a double take when I saw that this was actually a thread for Barrage and not for Barrier. Barrage seems to have fallen off the map (at least here on BA) after a little initial buzz 1-2 years ago. Just did a search for "Barrage" in the Mid-Atlantic thread, and over half the results on the first page are for its usage as a noun as found in the dictionary. And all but two of the mentions of the actual brewery were made by you...in posts to other brewery threads about collabs! They may need to think seriously about doing more to raise awareness beyond such collabs with hotter breweries (Sand City).
Haha, that's funny. I knew there wasn't a thread about Barrage but I was seriously impressed enough about the beer I had last night that I thought a thread may be in order. I know their head brewer has a full-time job on the side and I have no idea how the brewery is staffed but you're right about getting their name out there. They are on twitter, though.
They never really took off for me. Too many snickers/bosco gimmick beers. Yadayadayada and the Black Cherry Saison were undrinkable and pretty gross. Figured I give them another shot recently as they are trying to jump on the NE IPA haze bandwagon. But was really disappointed. I hate to see hops go to waste in bad ipas. (And my wife calls me a beer snob...)
Me, myself, I don't use twitter (I don't do any social media, period) but I find twitter useful when it comes to the local breweries.
Instagram only for me. Follow Sand City and Barrier. Don't know why I torture myself that way though. Can't do weekday releases, and since neither place is conveniently located, even weekend releases are problematic. :[
I added try and try to the BA dbase back in October, and I was really impressed also. I told my server immediately that the beer was the best IPA they had produced, imo. I live in farmingdale(home of barrage for those who don't know) so I try to check out new offerings whenever I can. Sadly, other than try and try, nothing recent has been memorable. Maybe unfairly, I give the credit for man hands to sand city, not barrage...based on both of their track records.
