I'm definitely a fan of maple syrup in beers as well. Since they are so hard to find sometimes I will create my own makeshift maple beer with Knob Creek's Smoky Maple Bourbon. I'm not a huge fan of that bourbon on its own because it is just too much maple by itself. However, if you put just a half to a full teaspoon of that stuff in a glass and pour in 12oz. of your go-to Imperial Stout or Barleywine (I like Ten FIDY and Bigfoot for this), it really transforms it to a whole other level. Not as amazing as let's say CBS or Autumn Maple but a good substitute.

I think people consume too many hop forward beers. And when they try something that isn't a hop bomb, it's "too sweet" for them.

I dont even know how to describe it. Had a very "off" taste to it. (I loved SR the first 2 times i had it). Almost had a chemical like taste to it. Thats the only way i know how to describe it. It was way off. Tasted very flat.

Just wanted to through one in the mix here that I hadn't noticed discussed yet. Wicked Weeds Barrel Aged French Toast Stout was huge on the Maple flavors. It was very sweet but not off putting. I thought it tasted much more like a Belgian Waffle rather then French toast. Everything played so well, the Bourbon, Maple Syrup and the sweet bread feel. All it needed was a little coffee and it would have been breakfast in a bottle.

You should have a golden opportunity in a week or so. Short's is releasing The Woodmaster next in their 2015 production schedule. It's a double brown ale fermented with maple and pecans, so you won't get an exclusive maple flavor if that is your goal. You'll probably have to be quick on your feet to get it before it's gone from the store shelf.

And now it looks like Bourbon County Prop (2015) will be added to the list!

Omnipollo Agamemnom BBA (Double mash, 7 hour boil, Vermont maple syrup and half a year of maturation on freshly emptied Kentucky bourbon Barrels).

Picked up a bottle a few days ago, was really pricey but have heard amazing things!

Whenever it comes out, Creature Comforts See the Stars is a 13% BA imperial stout that I'm hoping to get my hands on. It's aged in Mac's Maple barrels previously used to hold bourbon. Based on their past efforts, I fully expect it to be absolutely world class.

Dark Horse makes two that fit this thread. 3 Pairs of Legs is a barrel-aged porter with maple. 6 Pairs of Legs is a maple bourbon barrel-aged porter with maple.
