@tennisjoel, I almost forgot. Old Irving Brewing is just off of I-90, on the northwest side of Chicago, https://oldirvingbrewing.com/. It's literally 2 blocks from I-90. They have a one-time variety of their barrel-aged Krampus beer, called Gammelhjärtad. It's a "Blend of Barrel-Aged Barleywine aged in maple and port barrels and Barrel-Aged Krampus Imperial Milk Stout aged in rum barrels." When I stopped by last Saturday, they still had 2-paks of 16 oz. cans to go. It's quite delicious! When I first read the description, I was worried it would be over the top. But it's not. Very nicely balanced. I was told they didn't have too many of the to-go cans in stock, so it might be worth calling first.

FYI, they have a dining room where kids are very welcome.

LOL...No way I'm having my sons drive through Chicago. I'll mostly be buying for later consumption. Plus I only have a few hours of time to spend there before 5 more hours of driving.

Old Irving does have maybe the best food you'll find at a brewery. (Yes, haven't made it to Michelin starred Moody Tongue and Forbidden Root is up there).

Can confirm that Cultivate (the Forbidden Root spot in Ravenswood) is damn good.

I’m not disagreeing about OIB, but Revolution is equally good if not arguably better.

Revolution is far better. There is no argument to be had on the matter.

OIB has a few damn fine hazies, but I've tried to get into their other varieties and have yet to be truly impressed.

I was specifically referring to food, but yeah, no argument from me on your latter point.

And perhaps the most macabre brew pub location in Chicago.

Great food and beer at Revolution. Can’t speak to Old Irving, but it’s definitely on my list for my next visit.

Well, my stops today were at Revolution, Beer Temple, Binny's (Lincoln Park), and Off Color. Since my boys slept in a bit we had a later breakfast we didn't eat until later. Went to Fatso's last stand and were impressed. Probably most impressed with Beer Temple....that place is a mecca. Since I didn't know a lot about Off Color but the guy working there was very helpful. Binny's was huge. I was hoping to find some more 3 Floyds there but they pretty much only had the staples (i.e. Zombie Dust, Gumballhead, etc.) . Nothing I happened to be looking for. Lake Shore Drive and downtown were cool. Almost missed Soldier Field as it isn't much to look at from the highway. I expected traffic to be worse. It was good until we got south on I-90 and then it sucked until we got into Indiana.

At the Binny’s: did you just see the endcap? That’s the Binny’s I frequent the most and there’s more Floyd’s down one of the aisles (unless that was depleted).

What do you mean by endcap? There was an aisle but at the end only gumballhead and zombie dust.

Having Phase 3 tugboat tonight. Not super impressed. It is a little too sweet and undercarbonated for my tastes.

If you mean Phase Three Pressed with Tugboat coffee...not their best series, for sure.

Yeah that’s called an endcap. So they do have more Floyd’s than just what’s at the end of that aisle.

Since none of these beers are stouts, but all are barrel aged, this is as good a thread as any...Cruz Blanca has a bunch of stuff dropping via OZNR on Thursday. All from 2018 / 2019?!
