Deep brown to mahogany, this dark complex ale originated in Trappist monasteries throughout Belgium. It was sipped by Trappist monks during fasting and Winter months. Quadrupel is the strongest denomination of monastic beer. It shadows tripel, dubbel and single styles of Belgian ale, many of which were produced at Trappist monasteries as well. Forgotten Island is aged in Appleton rum barrels, originating from Jamaica. This distillery makes the oldest barrel-aged rum in the world. The barrel lends notes of vanilla, molasses, orange peel, cocoa, brown sugar, nutmeg, hazelnut, apricot and peach. This plethora of flavors and aromas from the rum barrels intermingles with banana, clove, cinnamon, fig, plum and brown sugar aromatics and flavors from the quadrupel, creating a crescendo of elegance in a long flavorful finale."

You don't have to be local; you just need to be able to pick it up in their tasting room within the next two months. No proxies, but if you had a friend willing to buy and ship, that works.

Jackie O's is about to have another bottle release on the 17th: four barrel-aged sours.

Not familiar with Alesmith's release policies. Do that just have BASS sitting on the shelves in the brewery for the next two months? Or do you buy online with the right to go pick it up within two months? I figure the latter is more likely.

    Side note: ISO BASS/VSS

They have ticket sales (Brown Paper tickets) and you buy there; you have a few months to go in and pick up your order. When they don't sell out a special release, e.g. the BA Old Numbskull or the BA Wee Heavy, you will see it in their tasting room available for purchase. This is not an issue for BA Speedway - it always sells out.

Sometime this fall, Revolution is releasing Deth's Tar, which is a BBA RIS. The base RIS is also being released, under the name Alderaan. Hahaha, see what they did there??

Like those who've mentioned already, I too don't like to spend more than $10 or $12 on a bomber but I would do it for this beer in a heartbeat. As good if not better than GI BCBS IMO.

Okay, well I should have elaborated.. You ain't buying it in the stores, and you have to get it in person at the brewery. So for this guy.. pretty much ain't happening if he's got to ask. Not to mention, it was already sold out online when he asked.
