Found the last two bottles of barrel aged bigfoot at a store I went to for first time. Amazed theres any left on shelves. Curious how long people have cellared this stuff for? Does it last over 5 years like regular bigfoot?

They aged it for two years. It should be great to drink now, or whenever you prefer BA beers. If I were in possession of one of these beers, I'd let it sit another year. But that's just me. Or take one, store it properly, and open it when a good friend comes to town. Don't wait five years.

I believe this was bottled for the first time in late 2012, so no one would have any long term aging insight to share.

I only bought one bottle since they were $25 in my area, so I want to make sure I enjoy it as much as possible. I don't usually age barrel aged beer but I'm going to sit on this one for at least a year since regular Bigfoot is so much better with at least two years on it. Plus I want to give the hops a chance, hops and barrel clash for me.

@mattosgood you sure about 2 years? I thought less than 1.

I'm not. I'm pretty sure I read it on the Instagram post of a local beer store, but I could have misread it or be thinking of another post. If there is inaccuracy in this, my bad!

It's collecting dust in my area. I haven't had the heart to pull the trigger yet.

I did a little research and found conflicting reports of either one or two years. I guess as long as its good.

As it is it's still a very hoppy beer, so for me I sat on my first release for eight months after trying a sip from a friend's bottle. It still was a hop bomb, so if you like hops, you can go the distance on this. Malt lovers like me should let it sit at least two years IMO.

Just drank a 2013 the other day. I feel like it needs another year honestly to start really developing into that fig/raisin goodness. If you're not gonna go the distance I'd say drink 6-18 months after bottling. What the hell do I know though.

I just got back from one of the local beer stores in NY. Looks like there were about 6-9 bottles left on the self. I picked up one with the same intent. To age for a year or so so it mellows out.

Assuming that SN used the exact same recipe and process recently as they did with the first released version (2013 IIRC), I would say that cellar aging has done wonders to the latter. I thought that the 2015 was too boozy and rough edged. The '13 is drinking well now but, like bcp5296d mentioned above, I think that a couple more years will make it amazing.

I drank a '13 and the recent release a couple weeks ago. The '13 is drinking very well, neither hot nor overly hoppy. The recent batch has much more peat in it, making me wonder if they sourced different barrels.

Thought the 13 was boozy as hell fresh and def needed at least 18 months. It's freakin expensive as well.

I haven't tried a '15 but the label specifies that it was aged in Bourbon barrels, while the '13 was a mix of whiskey barrels.
