I was lucky enough to get a barrel aged hoppin frog boris from each of the first two batches from a very generous trader (nflmvp). Just wondering if anyone has had either of these lately. Really getting the itch to open them sooner than later. Thanks.

What cap does it have? i had a gold cap ba boris in April. According to ratebeer, the gold cap one was from 2009 (and it had been sitting at my local bottle shop for at least 6 months). I thought it was awesome; the whiskey was definitely present but it did not overpower the beer like some reviews seemed to suggest, and it didn't exactly feel like the beer had thinned out (i found it to be pretty creamy/thick). But if the batch I had was indeed from 2009, then I can't imagine what the beer would taste like fresh, because after 3 years, the barrel-aging was not exactly subtle. If you have a more recent batch (like the red cap) and don't want a booze bomb, then maybe considering waiting? Sorry if this isn't of any help, but I hope you enjoy it if you decide to crack it open.

A few of us had the vertical last summer when they released BORIS Royale. The first two batches were awesome. I really wouldn't wait any longer on them, especially the batch 1. They were pretty close to perfect.

I have a couple of bottles of the green cap (Oct 2009) that I'm looking forward to as well. Sounds like soon is a good time to crack them.

BA Boris is one of my favorites, I'd crack it open if I were you. Esp if it's an earlier batch; it should be in its prime

I had a batch two at a camp/brew out in October and it was absolutely divine.

Come to think of it, I've still got a batch one that's in need of opening!

Didn't Hoppin' Frog say that the bottle caps aren't an indicator of year? At least recently? This was brought up i another thread. I'm just wondering if I have a gold cap if its from a few years ago or recent.

I believe so. I have a Gold cap too, but I got it off the shelf and assume that it is a recent batch.

I recently came across a shelf full of green caps. Pretty sure they are reusing the caps.

The first few batches were capped with specific colors in mind, not so much any more, however.

The blue caps are lucky. The green caps make you horny.

I emailed them about a bottle with a green cap I recently picked up. They said they are not capping certain colors according to year. Said it was likely a newer batch, but there wasn't any way to tell the bottles ages.

BA Boris didn't impress me much, I think I'm gonna let it age cause someone told me it ages very well.
