I live down the street from you

I just saw it on the shelves at lunch. It does have chocolate, so it doesn't fit the bill here, but how is it this year?

A newish beer here in Michigan is from OddSide Ales, and it is called Morningwood Stout. Coffee is brewed in the stout and aged in bourbon barrels.

Yea I forgot about Beer Geek Brunch Weasel. I was a tasty beer, but $15 for around a 7.5 oz bottle is insane. I felt guilty buying it

LOL, I didn't even notice who was posting. I also didn't know it had any chocolate...but it's right on the bottle. I don't really get any in the flavor profile, but I guess that could be intentionally just part of how it's blended. I think it's good. Pretty similar to the previous batch, which has really dried out over the last year.

Big bad baptist varies a great deal batch to batch, from 9.9%to 12.7% abv and from as little as 3 months to around 10 months time spent in barrels. The high abv ones with triple the barrel time are way better than the weak batches and to me taste like a completely different beer.

That probably explains why I wasn't thrilled about the bottle that I had a couple years ago after reading all of the hype about this beer. It was a letdown and I have not revisited it since then.

Just had Big Bad Baptist last night, it has a mellow bourbon flavor, but it's still really good. At $12.99 a bomber it's a great value.

Yes, this particular beer is very confusing. I had the same disappointment the first 2 bottles I tried but for some reason gave it a 3rd chance and it was worth it. Batch #31 and #34 should both be available now and are really great.

I've been wanting to try Big Bad Baptist for the longest time, but I've never seen it around. Does it ever pop up in the NY/NJ area? I've seen other stuff by Epic when I was living in NJ, but never BBB.

Barrelworks has a coffee black xantus called bzar beans thats incredible. I think they said it was aged 7 years in the barrel, sadly its not available in bottles tho.

Just discovered this one last week while in Salt Lake City; AMAZING BEER! Although I think the cocoa nibbs would negate it from this list no?

BA Peche Mortel and BA Imperial Biscotti Break if I could ever find these guys. I've heard BA Biscotti Break is more available on the East Coast but BA Peche Mortel... beats me. The base beer is divine. One to wake up to and gets the engine going.

Peruvian morning is no more. Maybe they will have a new BA beer this year could even be another coffee beer but it won't be Peruvian Morning.

I had BA sump on tap once, my first thought was how much it reminded me of BCBCS. I would rather put the time in for that knowing what I know now (sucks I missed out on 2014 bcbcs). Same with BA speepway I had a 2012 a couple months back and several beers mentioned here are superior IMO and easier to get.

None of this should deter you from trying to get either because your opinion may differ but my advice is not to hunt too hard.

Parabajava is a beer I really want to try...
Fremont's Kentucky Dark Star with Coffee comes to mind as one local to me you might not be familiar with.
