You'd think that being on a forum dedicated to discussing beer, I'd be able to put two and two together, but no, I read your response thusly: OOoohhh, nanobreeeweriees...

Nah. A well made stout doesnt need a barrel to improve it.

I was in your shoes. I rarely see them. I'm in a rural area as well.

I voted no and I am shocked at how close the vote is. There are a few stouts I have had that I prefer barrel aged. Mostly new barrels or very subtle bourbon barrel aged.

they are also covering the stout in adjuncts (example: last snow). :grimacing:

"Shaky Nano" would be a great name for a new brewery!

Very close call for me and depends on the type of stout - Milk/Sweet Stout definitely, Russian Imperial/American Imperial maybe, Export Stout no.

I like one every couple of months, but if they were equally available and cost the same I would pick up regular Old Rasputin, Ten Fidy, and Narwhal over their barrel aged cousins. I feel the same way about Nitro and Cask beers: nice to have to mix up the rotation, but nowhere near go-to level quality.

If you don't mind my asking, where in MN are you? You can PM me if you'd rather not say publicly.

Some people like to blend different beers together. Wonder how adding a little bit of good bourbon to say an Expedition would work?

I can't generalize beer this way. I've had bad BA and good BA and bad stouts and good stouts.

Nice, I'm a little further up north (Grand Forks/East Grand Forks area) so when you said rural I was just hoping you weren't further north than I am haha.
