I chose non barrel aged. So far I've only found 2 BA stouts that I like. Boulevard Imperial Stout and Bourbon County. With Bourbon County I still have to let it mature for about a year before I start to enjoy it. If BA stouts went away forever I wouldn't miss them that much. There are still plenty of good Imperial Stouts with a lot of good flavor.

If I want to taste whiskey, I'll have a whiskey. When I drink beer, I want to taste beer and only beer.

I'm going to abstain from voting on this one because I love them either way and which one I want depends on my mood.

No it's not. BCBS is released once a year in very limited amounts. 95% of it is sold in a day or 2. If enough BCBS was brewed to keep it on the store shelves from Oct. to Feb. it's sales would not be spoken about. There also would not be 4/5 threads about about it on BA.

Some beers though are better Non BA. For me Mexican Cake is a good example. Had two variants. Both whiskey. Liked non BA better.

I have yet to try a barrel aged beer that I didn't think was better than the base beer. Give me the barrel every day.

I like both and I absolutely love barrel aged. There are some non barrel aged stouts just as good like Peche Mortel and Aphrodisiaque, but when you get a barrel aged stout it just feels more special and I love the oak and vanilla flavors it adds most of the time. Cheers!

I like both, but prefer barrel aged. As long as they do not have an overly strong coffee flavor, I am usually happy.

I want to say nah, but this is very close to me. Bourbon County (BCBCS, VR, etc.), KBS, CBS, Parabola, Breakfast Exorcism, Double Barrel Jesus, Bell's Black Note are all incredible beers. Among the best beers I've ever had. However, Good Morning, Breakfast Stout, Founders Imperial Stout, WWS, TH Double Shot, Speedway, Ten Fidy are also some of the best examples of stouts that I've tried. Basing this on my reviews, I'd take Barrel Aged. However, all the beers listed above have all great base beers that are enhanced by the barrel aging. Most notably BCBS, KBS/CBS, Black Note. All of these beers have strong base beers (Big John/Night Stalker, FBS (Idc if they say this isn't the base beer), Expedition).

I enjoy both greatly but with standards such as Founders Imperial, Expedition and Bell's 30th, Plead the 5th, Nutsmasher, Victory at Sea (Imperial Porter but close enough), Oil of Aphrodite, Ten Fidy, Yeti, etc, I think that I could do without BA stouts. I'd miss them but if I had to pick I'd have to choose the regs.

Unfortunately, BA stouts have become too common place. But I still really love the good ones!
