A friend and I want to hold a barrel aged tasting. I know that is a broad statement. we both have barrel aged liquids from gueuze to stouts but I would love to hear opinions on what should be in the tasting?

Definitely a BA Boris and Black Xantus! And a Smuttynose Zinneke would be a nice addition, too.

I'd say it really depends on what you have, and what you are trying to accomplish. The same type of beer from different barrels or different beers from the same type of barrels seems like a good idea to me.

I'd skip the Parabola, personally. +1 to Backwoods Bastard.

In my opinion, Parabola tastes better and is more balanced then regular BCBS. BCBS is to syrupy for my liking.

I respect that. I wish I enjoyed Parabola as much as you and many others do, but unfortunately it's not to my tastes.

To each his or her own. I'm sitting on a parabola in my cellar; I intend to revisit it with some age on it. I thought it was a boozy mess when I first tried it, but I'm hoping it'll mellow out.

I'm always envious when others can enjoy a beer more than I'm able to. If I had my way, every beer would taste magnificent.

In any case, I wanted to throw in a vote for Mikkeller Black Hole red wine barrel aged.

Yes the mentioned mikkeller is great, as well as the central waters collection. However, the BBBW is pretty hot this year, i would just sit on it for some time. What about an Ola dubh? The scotch barrel is real unique.
