Anyone know how long you will be able to hold onto these growlers being released next week? I am getting one each of Czar Jack and Trace, but will be leaving to go out of town shortly after. Wondering if I need to drink them immediately, or if they can sit for potentially a month. Thanks.

Last time I had a Czar Jack growler (2011) in refrigeration for 9 months. No carbonation issues.

I had a Port Frost for 6-7 months, also no issues when I opened it later in the summer.

Just make sure you tighten the cap. They aren't always the tightest when you get them. Set them on a table, put your palm on top of them, push down hard and tigethen. That will give you the best seal. That plastic on the top doesn't do anything, it's just for health code.

If I remember correctly, I had 08' & 09' Czar side by side at Darkness Day, and both were still very good

Yeah i had a growler of the first release of twisted Jim and kept it in the fridge for over a year and popped it open during the central waters anniversary a year or two ago and it was still awesome. Best advise is to keep a tight seal on it and keep it in the back of the fridge where it won't be bumped too much, should be fine for a while.

You may have, that '09 was mine. Wonder who you are! That's part of the awesomeness of Darkness Day, huh?

Town Hall growlers will hold up forever.

How much of a requirement is it to have it in the fridge would you say? Fridge vs cellar temps?

He was with myself, Dougofthefuture, Caskstrength, and Sournotes. And..... the 08 was better. In your face.

On a side note. Are you going to brewfarm this weekend? I miss you. Xoxo.

Was hoping to Saturday around 4. If that fails, maybe run out Sunday and buy some of his brown jugs.

I wouldn't be too worried about fridge vs cellar for a year or two. I cracked open Czar Jacks and Twisted Jim's over the course of a couple years and all were cellared. While I prefer them fresh, they held up just fine after two years in the cellar and were still carbed up. The final TJ I opened at a tasting with other BA Barleywines held its own.

You may also remember me as the guy who couldn't speak while we were lined up to get the growler tickets on Sunday. Damn bouncers and their flailing elbows.

Aww. I feel all warm & fuzzy now. No Dave's for us this weekend, sadly. And I liked the '08 better too, punk.
