Search up Terrapin "Substance Abuse". Nice that they are bottling it.

Barrel-Aged Wake-N-Bake has sucked every time Terrapin has released it before (on draft at festivals), no reason to expect it's any better this time but I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

Man, they brought a keg to Moo and Brew last year in Charlotte and it was my favorite beer of the day.

Agreed, It is always harsh and messy. Not balanced at all.

I had BA W-n-B on draft and thought it was phenomenal. Sorry to hear you guys have had bad experiences.

What are your thoughts on regular WnB? Are you just not a fan of the base or did the treatment make it worse?

I love regular WnB, which is why I've been so perplexed that every time I've had a BA version it has sucked. Which hasn't been this year, so maybe (hopefully) the good experiences others describe are the new normal and they've figured it out.

Regular WnB, unless you love cold coffee, is awful. It's also a bit thin for 9.4%, so it's already on my radar of 'ugh'. BA might do it some good if the coffee is tamed and the body is tightened up.

I can't really remember the last time I had a terrapin beer that made me say "I want another one of those." I always get the impression that they cheap out on ingredients or something. I feel like I can taste the artificial flavorings. I don't know if this is fact, but just my personal opinion.

I attribute some of this to better beers being available now. IMO errapin makes good stuff and it used to be one of the best breweries available in Florida but so many better things are here now. I can't remember the last time i bought terrapin in Bottles or on draft.

I look at Terrapin and Sweetwater Beers like I do Fax Machines and DVD's and my first thought is "Why do they still make you?"..I guess they are still made so places like Fridays and BW3 can say they carry "craft beer" is all I got

A good example of my previous comment is the Maggie's peach farmhouse. Grabbed a pack of these at the beach last year for something light and refreshing (plus my gf loves RJ Rockers son of a peach, so I figured why not). Tasted like the epitome of artificial peach flavoring on top of a poorly executed farmhouse ale. I hated it, and thought "well at least my girl will like them"...she did not.

Had a Cinnamon roll'd W&B this year after hearing good things in the community...tasted like loads of artificial cinnamon heaped into a poorly crafted coffee beer that I already didn't care for. I will never spend money on a terrapin beer again.

Everything sweetwater that I've had has been subpar as well. No drain pours like terrapin, but nothing I'd spend money on.

Regarding Terrapin's artificial-tasting beers, a friend of mine called Terrapin "The DuClaw of the South."

That said, I really dig WnB and I enjoyed the Single Origin Coffee Stout 4pk this year. I'll probably buy BA WnB whenever I see it.

Got some growlers of Rum barrel aged W-n-B a year or so ago and it was really good. Sent to a few friends and they agreed. Never had any other barrel version.
