How much does a 8 or 10 gallon barrel cost? Used or new? And where would I look to purchase them? Is there a difference in cost between whiskey or bourbon or other barrels? I may be looking to purchase 10 barrels. Thanks guys.
I'd talk to local distilleries that age in oak and possibly local breweries that have liquor barrels they've only used once. This would probably go over better in the homebrewing section.
15 Gal is the most common. You'll probably pay around $150 for something in the 10-15 gal range of used distilled barrels. If you're patient, you can probably find one cheaper. As said above, it's a good idea to talk to local distillers or wine makers so that you can cut costs on shipping.
