I’m gonna pick this one up. Excited about the price and the style. Frankly, not a fan of their IPAs at all lately.

Grabbed a single can the other day to marinate some steak in while drinking the other half (haven’t done it yet). I remember doing it in the past and it was awesome.

I did pick up a 4 pack of Le Pete which is absolutely awesome. Fantastic price point too. Highly recommend grabbing some. I’ll be back there tomorrow to grab some for the weekend.

Whatever you do, don’t try the pumpkin Kicking Knowledge. A lot of people liked it but I was most definitely not one of them.

LePete is definitely awesome. I didn't think I'd like it but it's one of my favorites now. Can't beat it (and their other core beers) at $10 a 4pk. Hope to see Sazsquatch and Mars Zen soon.

I actually liked the pumpkin knowledge and I don’t usually buy/like milkshake IPAs. I was in a pumpkin mood when I bought it.

I don’t like any milkshake styles so I haven’t had any of them. Barrier’s IPAs all taste the same to me. After buying 2 cans of the Burial collaboration, I’m officially done. It’s a waste of money to me.

I thought Saazsquatch was a disappointment last year. Expensive too. Unless I see it on tap, I’m probably out on cans.

The only Barrier beers I’ve liked recently was BBHCFM and fresh Imposter. First batch of Oceanwood was good too.

I didn't have Saazsquatch last year, but if it's expensive, I'd skip it too. I think the only high price beer I bought lately was the latest barleywine.

I don't drink NEIPAs so I haven't had any of the Barrier collab IPAs, but don't all NEIPAs taste pretty much the same anyway?

If they put out Ruckus, Dunegrass or Evil Giant in cans, I'd be all over those.

Saazsquatch was better last year than the year before which was overly sweet. I don’t understand how Barrier can put out a beer for $10 a 4 pack and certain breweries in Brooklyn expect people to pay $17 for a 4 pack of Pilsners. Agree that their IPA game has fallen off.

The Grimm collab (Manual Wind) is one of their best beers I’ve had all year. It’s soft, it’s dank, it’s fairly balanced. $16 for a 4. I’m impressed by this one.

Curious about the Equilibrium collaboration - hoping it tastes somewhat like an Eq beer, not just another Barrier IPA with another brewery’s name attached to it. Anyone going today?

I just picked up a 4 pack. I’ll report back.

edit: I picked up the triple collab (Great Experiment) with EQ; not the sole EQ collab.

Also, they had Morticia on cask with coffee. It was so fucking good.

Curious, why the triple collar and not the sole one? Hop profile?

I actually didn’t realize they put out a sole collab with EQ until I got home haha.

The Great Experiment with EQ is pretty good but definitely your typical barrier IPA. The problem with their IPAs, IMO, isn’t the beer itself. The beer is well executed and I can tel the difference between the hop profiles. To me, it’s the yeast. The yeast character is powerful and sometimes becomes the dominant attribute. You almost immediately know that you are drinking a Barrier IPA from the yeast profile.

Totally agree on the yeast which is why I am skeptical on any “collaboration” IPA, probably much more Barrier than EQ. Might still check it out

I think the brews Barrier have been putting out the past 3 months have been super solid. Great Experiment 4 is the best one yet, I've been back to buy more of that one and Shadows and Dust. At $16 it can't be beat. While other breweries are racing to charge $24 for hype cans, $26 for BS milk sugar nonsense, Barrier is keeping the proper price point. Money is $14 a 4 pack!!! When you buy 5 4 packs you get one free, and that's on a mixed case too!! It can't be beat IMO.

Completely agree on the price point. Money is always solid, and at $14, cant be beat in terms of local IPAs and bang for your buck.

I love how their pils and kolsch are both $10 and the white ale is $12.

Agree with the last 2 posts. I’ve gotten Shadows, Jump in the Line, Manual Wind and Payment is Due and they’ve all been awesome. They turned the ipa corner imo. $16 a 4 is hard to beat. I’m a little disappointed that the smoked beer never made it around me but I’m hoping to snag a 4 of Groove Angle.

Barrier has the most consumer-friendly pricing model in the entire Westchester/NYC/LI area.

Seriously? I think you have your blinders on (and possibly just looking at 16oz hazy IPA breweries). Even if you remove the stuff from brewers in that area that are contract brewed in NY outside of that area, there are still plenty of brewers putting out $10 sixers.
