Oh, they're fine. But if you get angry with me because I curse a blue streak in front of your 10 year old that's YOUR problem for bringing them to the bar. I came here to relax, not listen to children scream and run around.

No crying babies please. I want to enjoy the beer and have an adult conversation away from the kids.

There's no hard and fast rule. Really depends on the time and the place. Some places absolutely no, and others, sure.

Neighborhood pub sounds to me like somewhere in a residential area that serves food. If so, then I'd say it's fine before 8, but after that it should be adults only

A good bar or brewery with a pool table or two has an area for them during the day, OK, during the evening to night, NO.

I am counting the days until mine is old enough to drive me home from the brewery. Only 4731 days to go.

It depends on the pub, this is truly an individual issue, some places have an atmosphere where it's fine, some dont, general rule, you know whether your kids are little assholes or not, if they are, leave them at home.

Bringing your kids to the bar is like bringing your mom to the strip club.

Sure, it's not explicitly prohibited. But it's probably still awkward and annoying for the rest of the people in your group, and potentially for other patrons. Especially if your mother/child has a big mouth and gets overexcited easily.

I have no problem with well behaved children in a pub atmosphere, and I have no problem with well behaved adults in a pub atmosphere.

Depends on the time and place. Before 8pm and a place with tables that serve food is usually always fine. Sitting your 5 year old up on bar stool with drunken bikers, sailors, shady truck drivers all around, probably not a good idea.

It all depends, doesn't it? What kind of bar is it? What time of day/night is it? How old are your kids? How do your kids behave in such environments?

If I'm at TGI Fridays for whatever reason (can't really even think of why I'd be there honestly) and I go to the bar to get a drink and your kid is there plowing down alfredo-infused-oreo-cookie-chicken-zingers-with-chipotle-melty-sauce, I'm not going to be shocked and I'm not going to give a shit. I'm also going to modify my behavior slightly, in the sense that I will watch my language.

If I'm at the bar I frequent most, the Scurvy Dog and you're there with your kid, I'm not going to modify my behavior at all. I will swear, probably a lot and, to bust your balls, I may try to order your kid a beer.

If it's a Saturday afternoon, around 4:00 and I pop into a bar to have a brew and you and your kids are there. That's all good, I'll watch my language out of respect for you and your kids, but I also don't want you giving me the stink eye if I drop an F-bomb.

If your kids are assholes and you don't know how to parent, I'm going to leave and before I do, I'm going to tell the bartender why I'm leaving so he knows that if s/he wants my business they need to keep you and your asshole kids out. If they prefer you and your asshole kids to me, then I don't want to go back.

With all of this said, I think people need to do more things with their children, not just for their development, but for yourss. There's a right place and time for everything.

Traditional sense of 'bar' then no.

All other places that are a mix between that and an ordinary restaurant, brewpub, etc. then it's more open.

Also, want to add, if your "bar" has a kid's menu, then don't be upset at parents who choose to go there with kids.

There's no way to answer this question since there are so many types of bars.
