Glad to see this regional forum pop up, too.

I'll be moving to Doha, Qatar in late June for a two year posting with my wife. Seeing as I sell beer and have been in and around the business for almost a decade, it'll be interesting to see how I'll get by without a lot of hops and quality American craft.

Anyone in Doha - or the region for that matter, please feel free to shoot me a PM if you'd like to chat about your experiences, etc.

 

@Rhettroactive I travel to Doha and Dubai frequently, I've even lived in Doha for a year. Doha is very tough when it comes to beer...some pubs in the western hotels you can find Stella or Guinness MAYBE a UK IPA or Stout but besides Bud or Heineken it's rough. Good Luck! Taking a trip to Abu Dhabi or Dubai on the weekend is usually the best option as more pubs/bars. You will notice any alcohol in Doha will only be served in the Western Hotels...i.e. Marriott, W Hotel, etc. Let me know if you have any questions, I'll actually be in Dubai tomorrow and the rest of next week.

 

@UAhuntt thanks for the heads up. I've heard it's barren over there, and expect to be consistently disappointed by the offerings. Luckily though, I'll have access to the PX, so I'm hoping I can find even one or two additional offerings that may blow my proverbial skirt up.
