BA's on Maui?

I will be heading up to Maui on 4/23...Does Maui get any good California beer?

 

I went to MonkeyPod last fall, and I can assure you that the beers I got there were not at 29 degrees. The stout was warmed up to the mid-40s, actually, and the IPA I had was probably 40.

I think that statement was aimed at their Bud drinkers.

 

Maui gets a great selection of California beers now that Stone is distributing! You can find yourself a ton of SD beers on Maui now. (stone, modern times, saint archer, etc)

Nothing makes me miss Home more then hearing someone speaking pidgin on BA.

 

I was there in August and there was so many Eclipse varinats in the stores (Tamuras locations) they were falling over.

 

Barrel Aged Bigfoot was flooded everywhere. I even found BCBS on the shelves.

 

Bumping this...visiting in the fall...any good berliners or sours that are available in maui? or should i just bring a 12 shipper

 

You will be limited to mostly a few Belgian import lambics and geuzes (Oud Beersel / Lindemans / Hanssens / The Duchesse / Ichtegem). Hawaii gets Artisanal Imports distro (Vanderghinste / Bockor etc.), but none of the sour stuff makes it to Maui. Whole Foods Maui used to carry more but it seems like less and less these days.

For domestics, Jolly Pumpkin just arrived but you prob. have no problem getting that. Anderson Valley Gose is pretty easy to find but that’s about it I believe. Breakside’s Passionfruit Sour Ale was great while it lasted, hopefully it comes back in the fall. Maui | Stone has a few breweries in their portfolio that brew seasonal sours (Bruery / Black Market / Avery / Modern Times) but none have landed yet.

I guess plan on packing your shipper for now but who knows what can happen by the time you get here. There's always liliko'i mai tais and li hing margaritas by the pool...

 

Anything new on the Maui front? Going to be there last week of May/First week of June, staying near Lahaina/Ka'anapali! Looks like Black Pearle from Maui Brewing is all gone by now? Anything good take its place?

 

Black Pearl was supposed to be on tap as a VIP selection for this past weekend's Maui Brewers Festival but I don't remember seeing it there, tho a few VIP kegs kicked super early. Not sure if its on offer at the pub. They just released a kolsch and session IPA.
